sanctified Veteran Posted August 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 22, 2009 In the past I've succesfuly installed windows via bootcamp before on my macbook pro (mid 2007) but now is giving me problems. First it said it couldnt move the files to make the partition, so I used the iDefrag's compact method, tried again and this time all good, but now it seems it doesnt want to boot from the xp cd. The cd is recognized by os x, but when trying to boot from it it stays in the apple screen that appears when you start your machine. I already tried with a different cd, same results. Any ideas? sanctified Veteran Posted August 22, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted August 22, 2009 haha! Seems my question beats the knowledge and experience of at least 175 people
furby
We mac people are a complex folk. 175 is the magic number before someone is allowed to post. First problem is usually when you don't have enough free space. But I guess you fixed that. When you start up the machine, holding down ALT, does the CD show up? The strange thing is that other bootable cds (other than xp cds) are showing, like the os x disc or coriolis ipartition. Seems my MBP has become a fanboy. furby
Sucks to be you :p Just to be sure, you can see the partition that you created for Windows? And have you've tried booting the xp cd on another machine (not necessarily a mac)? Do you see the Question Mark Folder when you startup? Is there just Mac OS when you go into System Prefences -> Startup Disk? Or maybe you could try installing it from a USB drive? Never tried it but maybe it's possible
Cldmani
This may sound dumb, but did you try to hold down C to force it boot from CD during bootup after the bootcamp installation procedure?
