Blizzard: No Diablo 3 Release for 2010

To be honest, if people can't quit complaining about "how bad WoW is these days" it'd be better to lock this topic. This topic's about Diablo 3, not WoW.

You people saying Blizzard should dump WoW and move on are fail. They are hardly going to suddenly dump the most profitable game they've ever made whist it's still making them a boatload of money. Not to mention, how exactly do you think Blizzard can fund games with such long and polished development times?

WoW release date: November 22, 2004

Todays date: August 23, 2009.

Game is old, time to move on. It's 2009, they need to bring something FRESH to the public, besides 2 year hype.

Off Topic...I sure hope Star Wars Old Republic comes out soon.

yeah but WHY exactly? Any business that dumped an extremely profitable product whist there's still a huge demand for it would be in gross violation to it's shareholders. Like it or not, Whist WoW is profitable, it will continue to exist. Even MMO's with 1/10th of WoWs population at peak are still around today.

The game is also hardly old whist it's still being activity developed and upgraded, that's the ENTIRE point of paying for an MMO. The WoW of 5 years ago is nothing like the WoW of today.

Basically it comes down to this, you don't like WoW so you think they should dump it for something you do like.

Oh don't get me wrong.......I liked WoW................FOUR YEARS AGO. Beta tested Wow, got the first expansion the night it was released. Spent 6-12 hours a day grinding away to get to 70. Then I said "You know what, this game is the same sh|t over and over and over. There's nothing great about this game. Just grind, buy gold, grind, raid, grind" So I opened up my blinds, and went outside. The fresh air was great....never looked back.

Game is old yes, but you have to remember, after what, 4/5 years of release, it is constantly in the top 5 of PC sales charts. So old game or not, it is definitely not one that will be released, and disappear like many games do after being released for a few weeks. Blizzard games has always shown to sell well, and once they do, they tend to stay there.

Diablo 3 will be no exception, once released, it would stay in the sales charts for about a year, that is a given.

One last thing - Blizzard have never made a half finished game. They release it when they feel its ready.

Games are taking longer and longer to come out. Blizzard needs to hire a few more staff members.

When you announce a game and it takes over 3 years to launch why announce it at all?

Blizzard needs to hire a few more staff members.

People often said that about WoW when it first came out, because the pace of new content was incredibly slow. They always responded with that they can't just hire a ton of staff randomly because it would dilute the talent at Blizzard, also the staff they do hire take a few months to get up to speed and integrated into Blizzard. So even if they hired a bunch of staff now it would be unlikely to really speed up the development time

You do have a point.

Bigger staff's are not always better. For instance look at a store chain. 1/2 of the employees don't give a crap. :p Did I just null my own statment. Ha.

This is a suprise to people? Why would they put of 3 big things in one year? I think it was clear D3 was coming after SC2 and SC2 wasn't hitting this year. I wish they would just tell us what the next gen mmo was. Forget D3, SC2, and WoW, Im ready to move on.

Yeah its a bit stupid, announcing Diablo 3 then putting out loads of videos and screenshots where it looks really polished and good enough to play in the state its in now then say oh no you cant have it for at least another 18 months.

Blizzard can suck my testes.

SC2 Beta is confirmed for 2009 (by confirmed, they said they are still hoping for it to be out in 2009). So that means SC release will be early 2010, as they've also said they expect the beta to last for aroun 6months.

The new WoW expansion will be out at the end of 2010.

Diablo3 will be out at the end of 2011 or early 2012.

People never learn, when they announced Starcraft2 ages ago, people were saying it would be out 3months later.. Then when they announced Diablo3 they said it'd be out next year.

That won't happen until WoW starts to properly die down as there is no real point in cannibalising their own customer base.

Could be a Sci-Fi MMO. ;)

and I thought that now we've got the monk video and stuffs, the game is almost complete :(
It doesn't sound like this has much to do with the progress of the games' development, but more to do with how to maximize the game's profit.

I'm bummed...

but.. if it's going to be anything like (replay value most importantly) diablo 2, when it is released, I'll still be playing it from time to time for the next 10 years.

I'm not really a Diablo fan at all. But for those who say D3 over SC2 any day.. well I have something to say to you. Well more like quote to you. "When it's done, it's done." And you Diablo fans should be happy they announced a 3rd Diablo. Starcraft took a 12 years to make up a sequel. I'm not even counting the expansions for Diablo. Starcraft had only 1 expansion. So stop and think about how long Starcraft fans have to wait.

*I apologize.. if I offended anyone.. I just had to get it off my chest*.
