Which Half-Life 2 Source Multiplayer Mods do you play?

Recommended Posts

I played NeoTokyo for awhile and I tried Dystopia which is somewhat fun. That Stargate mod looks fun. I didn't know about it until now.

You wonder if Black Mesa will ever be released.

This

could say the same about hl2 episode 3 :p

And this :p

Anyway, the only Source mod I play is CS Source. I'd play more, but most of them require a graphics card :p

Modular Combat (my favorite mod)

Fistful of Frags (awesome mod)

Several of the Zombie mods for Garry's Mod are quite good also

Action HL2

Fortress Forever (better than TF2 imo)

Wow a Stargate mod that made it to release. Back in the day you couldn't mention Stargate and mod in the same sentence without getting a cease and desist.

NeoTokyo

Waiting for:

Black Mesa Source Mod

@LOC

What's different in your opinion between Fortress Forever and TF2?

You can't compare them at all.

Fortress Forever is a direct "sequel" if you will to TF and TFC. You have bunny hopping (like crazy, all the pros play it), grenade spam, and just plain TF fun the way you remember it from the good old days of TF/TFC.

TF2 is, well TF2. I hate TF2 now and what Valve has turned it into. You know, World of Fortress 2 and all. When it first came out and the first few updates, it was fun and I accepted it as the next TF game. But now, forget it.

But comparing TF2 to FF is like apples and oranges. One is TF by name only to me (TF2) and one is the actual TF sequel we should have gotten. I mean who doesn't want to spam EMP nades and wipe out everything and everyone on the other team?

There are at least 3 or 4 Stargate mods out right now for HL2. Two of them are terrific, the other two not so much. There's also one or two more in developement. There are also two mods I know of out for BF2/2142 and countless Stargate mods for space based games like Sins of a Solar Empire, Nexus the Jupiter Incident (seriously underrated game imo), and other such games.

Just to throw this in, my fave mod Modular Combat just released version 1.76 yesterday (after 1.75 came out like 2 weeks ago). It's awesome and I wish more people would play it. You create your "toon" on a server (with a username and password and everything, along with multiple characters) and you level him up there on that server. Play on another server, make new characters. Play on the same server, level up one guy. :)

I mainly remember TFC being more unbalanced than fun. Is FF a direct copy?

But I agree that Valve have completely destroyed TF2 :(

No it's not a direct copy. They've changed some things, and kept other things the same. Like Engineer's are insanely overpowered still, but a decent Soldier can nuke them pretty easy. Medics infect (yay!) enemies still, and heal teammates of course, but they can really conc jump like nuts :D

Sentries are really quite weak, you can take them out easily even if they've got an engy or 2 sitting on it.

Of course if you just run out and start shooting it you're going to die, but a little bit of forethought helps.

Edit: Oh yeah, mods I play. Obsidian Conflict, It's the only one but it's a good one, a really great co-op mod.

The Synergy "syn" maps are getting there...

Sven Co-op 2 is the Source engine version of Sven Co-op. It is currently on hold until Sven Co-op v4.0 is finished. Little is known about this, save for a handful of screenshots of work in progress.

Sounds like waiting for the completion of 4 is just an excuse :/

Then when you view the moddb page it says:
