Ji@nBing
Just noticed this on the dash for 400 points. It must be new as I can't even find a news story for it. It says it's 2-3 hours. I guess that's not bad for 400 points.
Mathachew Veteran Posted August 25, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 25, 2009 Yep, here's an article from Joystiq: As we all know, the first and second rules of Fight Club are that you do not talk about Fight Club. Appropriately, Microsoft and BioWare haven't talked much about their Palahniuk-inspired Mass Effect DLC, Pinnacle Station; despite the fact that it hasn't even been formally announced, it's now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 ($5).According to the DLC's online description, Pinnacle Station will force you to "test the limits of your combat prowess aboard a remote, top-secret Alliance space station," brawling through 13 new "combat scenarios," and adding 2 to 3 hours of play time to the soon-to-be-sequeled space opera. We plan on picking it up ASAP, if only to see if Meat Loaf and spliced-in images of genitalia make an appearance. (We're thinking no.) Tharp Daddy
Just noticed this, it was very weird. They kept talking about how more details on their DLC would be released, then it's randomly on XBL without any warning or comments.
shihchiun
The word on Twitter is that this DLC has you playing a bunch of timed combat simulations a la Operation Anchorage for Fallout 3. If you're not a combat-based character, you're basically screwed.

Gersson
I will never buy anything related to this type of DRM including game ever again. Dead Space + Mass Effect + me not being able to play without spending money on a phone call = there are tons of other games I could have spend my money on and will. If you upgrade often stay away -- you have been warned. Not to mention if your computer suddenly becomes unbootable.

Don't forget if you add or remove a user profile on the machine Mass Effect PC is installed on it forces you to reactivate that game, talk about anal. DRM is definitely getting out of control and EA seems to be at the forefront of it. The irony is as more people get jack of it and pirate the games, the developers will up the DRM [in a vain attempt] to stop it. However, there is suppose to be a deauthorization tool for ME PC floating around somewhere although I still haven't found it...
Raa
There's a generic SecuROM deauthorise tool now available which does all games IIRC.
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted August 26, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) I was hoping it would also be released for the PC version. :/ EDIT: It seems as though I spoke too soon. The "Pinnacle Station" DLC is out for the PC version. You can get it here from the EA Store for $5. The last DLC, "Bring down the Sky", was free. It's a shame they're charging 25% of the game's current value for only 13 missions of combat. Edited August 26, 2009 by Anaron
Ji@nBing
IGN gave it a 5.0. Here's the closing statement from the review: I'm not sure why this add-on was ever released. Nearly two years after we were regaled by BioWare with the idea of a constantly expanding Mass Effect universe through downloadable additions, we've now born witness to a grand total of two underwhelming expansions. Pinnacle Station is uninspired, poorly constructed, and offers none of what made Mass Effect a great game in the first place. Skip this, lest you want to sully your anticipation for Mass Effect 2. That's all Pinnacle Station has done for me. Link Might want to skip this one :p

TheFlusher
I think in this DLC, it's required that you have spectre gear before heading into that station. I may be wrong though..
Ji@nBing
Seems people who bought the Platinum Hits version are having troubles... BioWare looking into Mass Effect 'Pinnacle Station' DLC glitchA recent Mass Effect forum thread has revealed that a sizable snafu has cropped up among the early adopters of the game's recently released (and still unannounced) Pinnacle Station DLC -- while players can download the intergalactic Fight Club scenario problem-free, the content isn't actually showing up in-game for some folks. Posters in this forum thread report that Pinnacle Station conflicts with the Bring Down The Sky DLC content that was bundled with the Platinum Hits version of Mass Effect. Unfortunately, if you've played through Bring Down the Sky's added areas and missions, you can't load your game without having that DLC on the hard drive. This means that the only way for Platinum Hits players to reach Pinnacle Station is to delete their bundled Bring Down the Sky DLC, purchase it from the Marketplace for 400, and then reinstall it. As you can imagine, this has given rise to some unhappy feelings among afflicted players. A BioWare rep responded to these complaints by saying the developer is working on a fix for the problem, but couldn't give an ETA as to when the fix would arrive. We certainly hope it shows up before torches and pitchforks get involved. Link

Xerxes
There's a generic SecuROM deauthorise tool now available which does all games IIRC. Cool, didn't know that :) BioWare have added a deauthorise tool to ME with the latest patch too, auto deauthorise on uninstall and can be manually revoked as well...better late then never I guess. neoadorable
on my 360 it worked right away - i mean the DLC. it even added a marker on the galactic map for Pinnacle Station. but the reviews were right, this is mediocre stuff. it's very simplistic and some of the mission types are downright impossible.
