This topic should be closed for lameness and stupidity. The game isn't out till 2010 in EU/USA, first review will be of the Japanese version in December. I'd expect to see this sort of crap on GameFAQS/Gametrailers, even then topics till like get closed on there.

Overall a good game, maybe not all they wanted or said it would be but still a good game

Overall a good game, maybe not all they wanted or said it would be but still a good game definitely +1 to that. most people who didn't like too human were expecting a true rpg, rather than a dungeon looting game. take it at face value and its highly enjoyable. sc302 Veteran Posted August 26, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 26, 2009 g~man, have you ever played an rpg outside of a computer or console? they are all turn based dice roll games to find out and figure out what a player is going to do. a traditional rpg will always be turn based and that is what the FF series has always been, a traditional rpg. Maybe you dislike turn based games, but you shouldn't discredit a game just because it is one. It was never intended to be a shooter, or a slasher, or a whacker. IMO, it should never be a diablo, warcraft, or any other of this type rpg. If anything, it should have multiple paths leading to multiple endings, depending on questions you ask and people you fight based on the questions and quests you go on, examples: the girl dies, you get the girl, you don't get the girl, you run off not fighting the end boss, you fight the end boss, you rule the world, you rule the world and turn it to ruins, etc.

Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted August 27, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted August 27, 2009 the most overated doo doo along with killzone 2 and too human20 yr old style rpg's just dont cut it anymore in this day and age Personally, I don't think you have enough consensus to make a fair assumption about a game that isn't out yet. The game hasn't gone gold even, so it is really hard for anyone to point fingers at what they believe this game to be. If you don't like the game, leave it at that, but it will not prevent consumers from purchasing the game based on one persons opinion. You could argue till the cows came home, but I strongly don't believe you either don't get get or understand the final fantasy franchise..
etempest
For me, RPG's have broken down in to 3 distinct catagories, if you were to base of the combat system: Tranditional - turn based / sudo turn base Stragetic - Grid / turne based, troop movement style of combat Action - like obivion, morrowind, etc. With the exception of Strategic, I enjoy both styles. Lot of the traditional combat have developed in to vary psudo-action, to "unique" combat elements, example Ar Tonelico / Ar Tonelico Hymnos (Song) magic system, to final fantasy's evolution of pusdo action. A good traditional rpg doesn't have to go to a "fps" model. I disagree that tradition should just "go away" because you feel it's outdated. Neo003
The only one FF game I've played was FF12, It was good but after spending like total of 24 hrs or something I got tired and havn't played since. But I'm looking forward for this one with it's new combat system. I'm sure I will never finish the game but still doens't hurt to try.
Hell-In-A-Handbasket
take all the Final Fantasy and their spinoff's ( even Movie/Anime/TV Series ) and count them up then compare that number to what your comparing is better. if it wasnt popular and wasnt good, it wouldnt be to
sc302 Veteran Posted August 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 27, 2009 LARP isn't turn-based True, but I am more referring to the Dungeons and Dragons, Rifts, Robotech, Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, etc, etc ,etc. Sorry to use such a general term as Traditional RPG. Raktael
This is the most rediculous topic I have seen... Dude...it's FF13, what do you expect? The new combat system looks good, the storyline, whilst yes is a bit 'expected', it's an FF title, they are pretty much all generic with little twists and turns, and let's not forget that possibly the best game of all time for many people was, and still is the much played and loved FF7! Square Enix have many other games of formats, Star Ocean is one, where that is RT battles, and then you have games like Last Remnants where that is turned based combat, they both are enjoyable games and stay pretty much true to Square Enix's game's of the past but thats what makes them so enjoyable. I'd suggest before you make a rediculous post again you probably read up on what your commenting on and get some facts to back up your er 'lack' of an argument.
