Minifig
With Atari and Cryptic's Champions Online prepping for deployment next week, this is the worst possible news that they could hear on a relatively quiet Wednesday. According to Courthouse News Service, Turbine have filed suit against the past console maker claiming that Atari "breached agreements by accepting payments - including future royalty payments - in return for extending their relationship and paving the way for the launch of Turbine's free-to-play DDO: Unlimited service, though Atari knew it would not perform its obligations under the agreements and knew it would pretextually seek to declare Turbine in breach of the agreements." Minifig
Turbine is suing..... I messaged a mod to edit the title, kinda made a mistake. I'm awake on 1 1/2 hours of sleep right now.

mounty
I've played many MMO's but not this one, was it any good?
SMELTN
Not really, I beta tested it, and it felt like AoC just not as good
Grumpy Old Man
I've played many MMO's but not this one, was it any good? It was ok. Different from the standard crop of MMO's in that all the action took place in instanced dungeons (I last played over a year and half ago though so this may have changed). There just wasn't enough in it to keep me paying ?10 every month.
LOC Veteran Posted August 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 28, 2009 Not really, I beta tested it, and it felt like AoC just not as good Huh, AoC? Did I not play DDO for the past few years and miss something? lol DDO is a very unique game, and it's a shame more people didn't give it a shot. Now that it's going f2p (well, more or less) hopefully it's community will grow and include lots of new people. I know the instanced off everything ticks people off, but it certainly doesn't bother me or alot of other people who've played the game. Plus, quite a few instances are interactive with either traps or what not all over the place, or you gotta go up and down ladders/climb boxes etc to flip switches. It's a neat little thing that most MMO's just don't have.
Dashel
I thought someone was going to mod the title. Not exactly a healthy headline for launch week. DDO shares very little with any other MMO, to its benefit. Real time Group focused Instanced Paid on quest, not mob. Caster love Simple recipe to produce an uncommonly good game. A game that shares more with FPS shooters than any typical EQ molded MMORPG. I think they are preaching to the wrong market.
Calum Veteran Posted September 2, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 2, 2009 I thought someone was going to mod the title. Not exactly a healthy headline for launch week. I changed the title of the thread to the title the author desired. I changed "Atari suing?" to "Atari being sued?"
Dashel
I'm talking about the 'Kiss it goodbye' part. Champions Online and ST Online are jeopardized by this much more that Turbine's use of the D&D name. Stop kicking the old girl, she's had enough already. chaos mage
Kicking Atari? Crap, if they deserve it they deserve it. If Turbine's the only one with the balls to stand up to it, so be it. Publishers being dishonest used to be common practice...I'd hope at least to some degree it's been fixed.
