PS3 "slim" wired connection problem

Recommended Posts

Ok, I can't for the death of me figure out why the wired connection on PS3 slim can't connect to internet.

Network is set up as follows: PS3 -> Dlink DAP-1522 in bridge mode -> Dlink router -> Cable modem -> Internet.

360 that is sitting next to the PS3 gets online just fine, even my older PS3 connects using the same cable. The new PS3 slim gets ip address but internet connection test always fails with dns error 80710102. I tried using various dns servers but no change, on the internet connection test PS3 passes IP part and then fails with dns error 80710102.

The network settings on the PS3 slim and the older PS3 are identical, though I also tried automatic and manual settings.

I also don't see my media server so it doesn't look like it's just internet connection that is failing.

I'm putting this here since I'm fairly sure there is nothing wrong with my network setup, all other devices connected to the DAP-1522 get online without problems.

Any ideas?

yeah, power cycled all of them couple times.

I just took the PS3 upstairs and hooked it up directly to the router.. and the ****** connected straight away. So I guess it's the dap-1522 that messed up after all.

Thanks, tried that just now. I don't think the dap-1522 (bridge) has uPnP setting put turning it off on the router (DLG-4500) and the ps3 didn't help.

btw, the new PS3 can connect fine over wireless.. (connects to the dlg-4500). So basically everything else works except the one way which I need to get it running.

Aha, victory! For some reason I had to enable MAC address cloning on the bridge.. it's a mystery to me why everything else works with it off except the new PS3 (including identically set up older PS3) but hey.. It works and the PS3 now streams HD stuff perfectly so I'm happy.

I'm having EXACTLY the same issue with the same hardware setup. Probably spent 10+ hours trying to figure it so far. What did you set? Enable Wireless MAC cloning and set it to auto?

Got the exact problem, damm error 80710102, and DNS stuff it says... and messing around router configuration I fixed.

Got a slim, 250 PS3 firmware 3.15, DSL modem then to a d-link 300.

Into the d-link setting I unchecked "Enable DNS Relay" into setup -- LAN setup, and it fixed all.

I can access again PSN, and all the stuff.

Hope it help.
