MrWatchDawg
OK guys I decided to make the switch and get a MacBook pro. I used FinalCut pro on it the other day and was in love with it. Made a video and realized how easy it was. So I decided to go ahead and buy a Mac. Now my question to y'all is that when does Apple ususally refresh their hardware? I have always been a Windows Fanboi so I dont know. I just spend $1800 on the 15" Pro and I dont want them to release new hardware later on this month because I know they are having their little conference. If so than I might as well wait to buy it till than. Incase you were wondering what I got is this http://store.apple.com/us-hed/configure/Z0GS

RaulMR
The new models were introduced in June (WWDC 2009) this year so I do not believe that making changes in so little time. Perhaps in January, March or June of next year. January maybe new iMac ans June new Macbook Pro with iX (X=5,7 pick a number) Intel based CPU's. Watch keynote (WWDC 2009) and you answer your question. Cya

Phantom Helix
I don't think they are going to refresh the models after only 5 months, if you really want to wait for the newest models then you will probably be waiting till sometime next summer

Brian M. Veteran Posted September 8, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 8, 2009 The most they'll do is maybe a slight speed/storage bump - nothing major.

Snow Leopard supports Blu-Ray so I am sure they will offer Blu-Ray stock in the Mac Pros and SuperDrives for the rest, customize Blu-Ray on the rest online

Gary2MBz
Um what? exactly what do you mean by supports blu-ray? Try building a hackintosh with Leopard and a Blu-Ray Drive and it will be seen as a SuperDrive without Blu-Ray. I remember seeing a screenshot of Snow Leopard with a Blu-Ray drive listed. Phantom Helix
Leopard has been able to use blu-ray drives sure, apps like Toast can burn blu-ray and finder can read them if the drive has Mac driver software, but snow leopard offers nothing different Blu-ray support for SL would mean that it can Play commercial movies, which it can not

one321
I'm also jumping on a MacBook Pro 15" soon. I would have liked it to have a Blu-ray drive, but I think I'll be okay without it for now. I am struggling with which to buy. I am upgrading the hard drive to 500GB 7200 RPM and adding AppleCare. AppleCare is one price no matter how much the MacBook costs, so in a way, it is cheaper when you go more expensive. I've created a little chart comparing the three 15" choices, and I think the most expensive is the way to go for what you get without that much of a bump in price. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ak...ItTnc&hl=en Note: All of my prices are based on student discount
