iTunes opens when iPod Touch is plugged in

Recommended Posts

When I plug my iPod touch (1st generation) into my iMac or if the iPod touch is already plugged in when the computer starts, iTunes opens automatically. I know the there is an option in the iPod touch preferences in iTunes to change this behaviour, but it is greyed out and unticked, as shown in the screenshot below:

Any ideas what would be causing it?

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) - I done an upgrade from Leopard, but it also happened in Leopard.

iPod touch 1st generation running 2.2.1 software (downgraded because I had problems with the battery life in 3.0)

iTunes 8.2.1

Thanks.

What if you turn that option on, unplug your iPod and then untick it again?

There should be an option under Preferences for disabling automatic sync of iPods/iPhones. Should be under the Devices pane.

Yeah and if automatic sync is disabled that option will be greyd out :) Try enabling that again.
