Privateer like game?

Recommended Posts

I've always loved those games that let you to roam free, gather resources, make money, like a mini life simulation.

Recently I've tried Privateer Gemini Gold, but its hard, all the bases look a like and some missions are ridiculous (I kept my game opened for hours trying to reach New Caledonia and I never got near).

I wonder if there any other games like this one, except more enjoyable.

But the thing I like the most about privateer is collecting and selling stuff :(

Ahh Privateer. Still have that, still play it. Completed it before, it's not easy but I find the strategy pretty exciting. Just make sure you have a nav map printed out you can refer to and you'll be able to find proper jump routes.

Tip: The original Privateer runs fine in DOSBox and is more complete and less buggy.

Not sure how you feel about MMORPGs, but what you've just described is essentially EVE Online...which is no coincidence, since they modeled EVE after the Privateer/Elite types of games.

Yeah X3 is the game(s) he's looking for.

X3 oh and that older space trader game where everyone could create their own little persistent servers. That was a pretty good game, even if it was mouse control only, it had really good mouse control though, but was a lot simpler than X3.
