A Game Button Mashing works in?

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend likes games, but can only really button mash. She is terrible at games like halo or cod4 because moving and looking take two thumbs at the same time. Her rythme is terrible at DDR and GH3 and she is clumsy as an ox in general. I love her, but she is just not a agile or twitchy person.

She can, however, mash. She plays fighting games, but only the ones where you can just ram away at buttons and see cool things happening. Games like soul caliber where it is all about knowing the moves and the smooth crisp animations arent her thing.

Something fast and flashy, with relativly simple special moves where u can mash the hell out of the controller and see cool things happen, and i can mash with her, and we can watch cool things happen together.

I was looking at Marvel vs Capcom 2 on the market place, itd work, but id really like a CD version of the game, and i cant find one for the 360. Games that do come on CD arent what im looking for.

Anyone tried Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe? Would it work?

P.S.

Why isint there a pure MK game for 360 yet?

Stay away from MvC2, it's a pretty hardcore fighter despite it's appearance. You can't find a disc version of the game because it was a port from last generation. To buy it on disc you'll need to buy it for Xbox, DreamCast or PS2. You are best off buying it on XBLA if you really want it though, you'll have to pay much more for a disc version. It's a collector's item. You can still have fun with it and you could easilly button mash, but to see the really "flashy cool" looking moves, you need to know what you're doing. I think there is a demo on Marketplace for 2 players, so give it a try first.

Edit: forgot to mention, if you do want to buy a disc version anyway, the Xbox version is compatible on the 360 :)

There isn't a normal MK game and most likely won't be, at least not for a while. The company is in big financial trouble.

Like Jimmy0 said, try Track and Field. It's an old arcade game centred around Olympic sports. Most events involve just pressing A as fast as you can to make your character run as fast as possible.

TMNT Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is another port of a classic arcade game on XBLA, but it has been remade in HD. It's a side scroller and again you can press X over and over. Combos are automatically mapped as well, so you can see sorts of flashy moves. It's not going to amaze you though :p

Tekken (Y) You can practice for years and some day 8 year old will come along and wipe floor with you.

FFCC on psp is 'X' mashing game, not sure of thats on any other consoles.

"Gauntlet"? I think is the name of the game, linear gameplay but controls are extremely simple and its reasonbly fun watching hordes of enemies being laid to rest.

I'll add more if I think of additional ones.

tried the demo for MvC. We both like it, i just wanted a disc version. I might have to suck it up and settle on the XBL version.

Pressing one button fast or repeatedly is not what i meant by mashing. I meant just mauling the controller like a 5 year old child.

Somehow she manages to do a whole bunch of moves, though i wish i knew hot to tag team my guys out and the whole 3 char system.

Well like I was saying, it's not a 360 game, it's a port. So unless you want the Xbox version your only option is XBLA.

Not certain the performance of the Xbox version is 100% either. Let me check my copy..

Edit: yup the Xbox version has problems with the sprites and it's not running full speed. I could record a short video and show you if you like?

Besides the XBLA release was updated with 16:9 support, sharper backgrounds and it has all the charatcers unlocked from the start too. Plus the XBL support is miles better. As well as achievements etc etc.

Also to some of the other replies, this is the Microsoft section. Not much use recommending PS and Nintendo titles in here :p

I think your best bet would be Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Yeah I know we're in the MS console forum, but I honestly can't think of a more appropriate game. The items just null the fact that you probably better than her and every character has esentially the same move set, so it's real easy to learn.

I got a gamecube as well, i forgot i had brawl. Have to see if she likes that one better, only problem with brawl is i am disgustingly good at it. could do co-op vs the computer but that sounds like an escourt quest. lol

have to check that out. other than MvC are there any fighting games for the 360 that sound good for us? Dead or Alive and Soul Calibur dont really fit. Too slow paced and not flashy or quick enough.

DoA slow paced? wtfff lol. Buy her that and tell her to fight the Japanese on XBL, we'll see if it's still slow paced lol.

The action might look slow, but the actual button configs you gotta input for the flashier moves are some of the hardest combos I know.

If you want faster fighters then look at Street Fighter IV or the SF arcade games. But again, there not button mashers or beginner fighting games :p

If you have a Gamecube then you'll be looking at Super Smash Bros Melee. SSB Brawl is on the Wii.

How many mates you got who play Brawl? The more the better, really. I'm part of the North-West region in England, and get loads of new comers joining in with our frendlies. We mix things up for them a bit.. items.. silly rules. Helps them alot & makes things more fun.

You could just not play your main characters.. go crazy and play low-tier :p.

But don't play co-op, I find it boring and she'll feel like a drag since you'll know what to do and she won't. I only play Brawls in Brawl anyway.

I think Brawl's the best one to play for beginners because there's loads of things that make it easier (combos don't really exist, so it's hard to get shat on like that.. which puts new players off).

DoA is definitely played on two or three different levels.

You can button mash at the lowest level and have fun, then there's a second level where you actually understand most of the moveset for two or three characters, and then there's the real level, where you pretty much have to know every character back and forth and you understand and can execute the reversals based on what you see.

The Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors games (and 99 Nights) are all quite mashy, and you have the reward of level progression so you can chuff it out if necessary and grind your way to success.

the Beijing Olympics game is all about button mashing, but it's very timed, not just mashing non-stop. you can find it for cheap now at the Gamestop. What about Boom Boom Rocket, that's kinda colorful and is all about timing presses.

This. Seriously, it's actually quite demoralizing...

Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors. PURE button mashing and you will see cool things happen just by doing it. And you can mash with her in coop mode rather than beating each other up in fighters. I guess you're looking more for a fighting game but the Warrior series can be a lot of fun with a partner :)
