This sounds too good to be true, but according to DealNews.com, Blu-ray players are expected to be $49 on Black Friday later this year.

Would def be nice to see this... I am not sure it can happen unless they are unloading a bunch of players that are profile 1.0/1.1 or even players that have been discontinued... who knows...

this was my favorite prediction..

"iMac and MacBook computers for 5% to 10% off" - ROFL.. I mean.. I know its better than nothing, but c'mon.

Last year in Canada (Our blackfriday is called Boxing day, day after christmas) they had stacks and stacks of blu-ray players and this one type of monitor. I'm a tall guy and these stacks were in the isles at futureshops and bestbuys all around my area, they were as tall as me, must of been somewhere around 400-500 blu-ray players and monitors at each location.

All sold out by the 3rd day.

Profile 2.0 players are only good if you're into all that BD-Live stuff. I'm not, so a 1.0 or 1.1 player would've been sufficient enough for me.

It bet it would be a really high quality player too. Maybe one of those nice Durabrands that Wal-Mart had to recall recently because they were bursting into flames.

Prices will obviously come down but I doubt we'll be able to buy a nice brand name player for $49 for quite a while yet.
