Xbox 360

Recommended Posts

I have an Xbox 360 with a 20gb official hard drive. I want to upgrade it to a 120gb or more. I currently have the lastest update on my current one, but I need more space. I don't plan to mod anything, just upgrade hard drive with more space.

However, I have been hearing Microsoft was banning people for modding, but is this related to just upgrading the HD? I tried looking on their website for answers, but to no avail. Anyone care to help me understand?

Thanks.

That is somewhat true, if you mod your 20GB HDD and put in say.. a 320GB HDD.

If you buy the official 120GB HDD there shouldn't be a problem, just make sure you get the transfer cable (Y)

It's for people who mod(flash) their DVD drive to play copied games.

I havn't heard of anyone being banned for upgrading the hard drive.

I think a couple people on here have upgraded their hard drives.

You need to get a specific Western Digital HD as well, google about it.

It seems to be this one, WD1200BEVS, but they don't seem to sell it anymore. Newegg doesn't even have it. Should I contact Microsoft or something. Anyone with an upgraded HD get banned? Also, is the max 120gb?

You will not get banned for upgrading your harddrive, but at this stage of the game you may as well wait because it is looking more and more likely that MS is going to release bigger drives.

Yea Qumahlin, I've heard a 250gb might be coming, but I don't wanna pay the premium prices, which I think is a rip off. I could get a 250gb HD for $60 on newegg. Instead of paying almost $150 for a 120gb Microsoft one.

Yeah but you are still limited to 120GBs. What I'd recommend is finding a used 120GB 360 HD off Ebay or some other place for cheap, so then you have enough space, yeah you could wait but I don't really see anything happening any time soon in regards to a bigger hard drive.

I know if you use the transfer cable to move stuff from the 20GB to 120GB you won't have any problems, I did it with my drives a few months ago.

That's going to be too much of a problem, I would recommend that you upgrade after they release 250 Gig+ size HD. That way you can at least get the hddss.bin from the official hd and replace it with your cheaper one.

I would doubt it that they would make the hd cheaper. They're just being f****** ****** ****** ******s.
