Ninja Theory finally reveals Enslaved

News by Robert Purchese

Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory has finally exposed its next game, "a post-apocalyptic journey" called Enslaved.

Those scant details spill from a taster of the October issue of Game Informer, which will be available soon.

The blurb also mentions that Enslaved will be a multiplatform game for Namco Bandai, but we knew that already.

Heavenly Sword was released in late 2007 as a PS3 exclusive, and the game made serious strides in digital acting, employing Gollum actor Andy Serkis as creative lead.

Unfortunately the rest of the game didn't really match up, and Sony left the series alone, freeing Ninja Theory to tackle a completely new concept.

Hopefully its arrival on the pages of Game Informer means our wait to discover Enslaved is finally nearly over.

Catch-up with our Heavenly Sword review to see what Ninja Theory is capable of.

News to me they went multiplatform, but I'm looking forward to this. I love Heavenly Sword.

They've already given themselves a mighty mountain to climb just by promoting their game in such an amazingly over-used and cheesy story setting, in my eyes anyway.

Hopefully the environment is better than Fallout 3, I couldn't bring myself to complete that game because it's so drab and boring (yes I know that's the theme, just my tastes).

Which is why I want that damn new Elder Scrolls game!

Its been known a few months after heavenly sword came out that they weren't with Sony any more.

And it had been rumored for a long time about the whole "post-apocalyptic" thing too, we just never had it confirmed.

Looking forward to it though, I enjoyed Heavenly Sword for what it was, though that might have something to do with the fact that I only bought it for like ?15, but it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Post-apocalyptic is awesome and just because a few select titles have used the theme lately and a few upcoming games, doesn't mean it's bad. I can't wait to hear more (Y)

Post apocalyptic is over used and boring.

in anime 9 of 10 "scifi" series/movies are post apocalyptic, desert crap. games and regular movies are slightly better.

"clean" sci-fi is much more rare, like Mass Effect. Even though Post apocalysm is rarer in game I still don't really like the setting. in any case all post apocalysm settings are identical anyway, they're just a mild variation on Fallout,

I like post-apocalyptic stuff. And I don't see how it's overused... Rage, Fallout 3... so many games using that setting, eh?

You're forgetting quite a few games, among them there was the open world car/truck war and transport game that's not that old. Dreamfall as well, Not to forget that other fun little action adventure game I don't remember the name of, just remember there was a lighthouse and some boats and stuff. Then there's that SciFi Western game from the xbox, The Oddysey one.

I would say the post-apocalyptic setting is no more used than any other these days, if anything World War II has been used the most in recent memory from the past few console generations.

If they came out in the last generation then I don't see how that relates to it being an overused setting. If anything, that'd imply the contrary -- that few games this generation use the setting, and only a few last generation did as well.

No I knew Sony let them go after the poor sales of HS, but I didn't know (or at least I can't remember) them saying they were developing for the 360 now also.

Anyway I am interested in the news and will be keeping a look out for more details, no doubt about that. I love the apocalyptic scenes but I don't think there's been a game yet to pull it off. I'm hoping RAGE & Borderlands do.

They never were really "with" Sony, Sony just funded Heavenly Sword when MS wouldn't. Namco bought them a few weeks ago (along with Games Republic, Folklore devs).

I liked Heavenly Sword, I just agree with those that it was short.

Depends on your idea of "post-apacalyptic"

Smart move on MS's part, Sony spent the money and ended up with a overhyped (which they tend to do anyways) sales dud. Sure people liked it, and it was short, but sales are everything, and it didn't match the hype levels I remember it was getting out of the Sony PR armada.

That and Lair as well, back then anyways. It's best not to listen to the PR and wait for a demo so you can try it out yourself. Free demo d/ls of games is the best thing ever imo, saved me from spending money on quite a few things so far.
