Nevakonaza
Hey guys, okay...im fed up with the constant problems that comes with pc games....you have to keep on updating your hardware to make sure games run as smooth as possible, that costs a furtune! Then....Theres always problems with windows such as errors...patches....drivers etc and its just annoying....and im not realy feeling vista or 7,and of course thats the only 2 os that run DX10. I origionaly upgraded this pc to run GTA IV on higest settings, and it does BUT...due to games for windows live stupid activation limit....i cannot any longer play online as ive activated too many times due to testing it on diffrent operating systems and theres no support to get them to fix my problem so its rendred useless. its just silly little stuff like this,i know if i had a console i wouldnt have any of this activation junk. specs Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO @ 3.3Ghz |MSI P35 Neo-F| 5GB OCZ Vista Gold Series -6400 XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 XT 1024MB GDDR5 X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity 7.1 |Coolermaster Dominator 690 Black (Modded)| OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Modular 250Gb & 500GB Sata2 Avermedia Volar HDTV Tuner|Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit Money isnt the problem....i have my gaming rig i could selll + another Core 2 Duo rig im building. So yeah do you think i should sell my gaming pc and buy the new Slim PS3 + 1080p HDTV? thanks for your answers :)
Ironman273
I have an older HP system with an ATI HD3870 that I'm very happy running all the Games for Windows I've thrown at it at 1680x1050 (with AA and such). I don't know why you wouldn't be "feeling" Windows 7 and the activation on different operating systems, well, just sounds silly. It appears to me your mind is already made up but quite frankly the reasons seem like you're just looking for an excuse. If you want a PS3 get one. It's a great gaming system. If all you do with a PC is gaming then it's a no brainer.
Zapadlo
Short Answer: Yes. Long Answer: In the long run I think having a console is more advantageous. However I would think twice before selling my station. You are not likely to get much money for it and you will be down a good PC in the household. I obviously don't know your reasons behind building the Core 2 Duo system but perhaps your current machine can fulfill it's role. So only sell if you absolutely have no need for it. Above is obviously only my humble opinion.
chevyordeath
If money isn't a problem, then keep your gaming PC and just buy a PS3. I've got a PS3, 2 gaming PCs and my laptop. If I had to choose either my i7 gaming machine, or my PS3, I'd stick with my i7. I love my PS3, but I'm a PC gamer at heart.
x9248
You want to sell that PC for a PS3 and a 1080p TV? Depending on the size of the TV I don't think your used PC is worth that much :p I would personally keep the PC and just save up for a PS3+TV
neudera
They are two different platforms. For example, you will NEVER see Warcraft 3 played on a console. Certain games just can't live without a keyboard and mouse. On the other hand, certain games like Resident Evil suck ass without a controller. McCordRm
They are two different platforms. For example, you will NEVER see Warcraft 3 played on a console. Certain games just can't live without a keyboard and mouse. On the other hand, certain games like Resident Evil suck ass without a controller. 1. I use my 360 Wireless controller on my PC all the time. 2. A PC can game and then some. Go without touching you PC for a week. If you make it, you don't need it... just get get the PS3. 3. Not EVERY computer has problems. I'm running Windows 7 and haven't had ANY issues with my games from my side. With that, most games I play are online like TF2 and now Champion's Online. If there are any problems, it's on their side. 4. Constant upgrades. This is B.S. I've been using the same system for 3 years now and, like I said in item #2, I'm not having any issues. The hardware is the same and runs just fine. The Operating System has changed (Finally! XP was getting old), but I do not constantly upgrade the drivers. I ONLY upgrade drivers when a game requires it... which is to say, not often at all. Just because new drivers are released doesn't mean I need them. THAT is where people screw up. They keep running updates, installing "cleaner" software, etc. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And it's saved me a LOT of time and money.
SMELTN
You know, after giving up my wow addiction in February.. I hardly touch my pc for gaming now.. Other than playing TWO every now and again, and a little DOD:S as of late. I mainly check my email and get off.. So if I had the option to get the PS3 + HDTV I would probably do it, as long as I had a laptop that would work well to check email, etc. Although like others here I am a PC gamer at heart, its just right now nothing good has come out for PC to attract me.. But that will change with COD5 and SWToR
Sikh
^ what he said. Thats the best way to explain it. Your PC can handle any game at high. Your one of those people that NEED there PC upgraded to the MAX to handle ANY game at every highest setting. Dont be so anal and yourll be fine. Im not attacking you, but im just stating that building a PC to handle the highest setting on everything for Crysis or GTA4 isnt the best thing to do. You waste a lot of money, and then you continue to upgrade down the line. I had a 8600GTS in this pc, and this pc is now 2 years old, I played crysis on High all settings @ 1024 and could go up to 1280 and it was MORE then playable. I then got a 9600GT as a rma and this thing handles crysis EVEN better. So with my 2 yr old rig, I can play ANY game right now. Being a PC gamer, you need to realize, you build a PC this year for games to handle highest setting then next year it will be able to run most games on highest / high settings. Then medium. A gaming PC lasts you 3 years on average. Thats my opinion but to me, Ive realized most pc gamers that I know like friends and other people, they all agree that about the 3yr mark is when your systems gets to the point where it will play all new games on medium and somewhat high. Even thou its still playable, its time to upgrade if you wish. I plan on going till next year with this pc and then ill spend a lot more money building a new pc. This PC i built on $800 on black friday and got a HELL of a deal on all the parts. Basically half off. And I can handle most games on high / medium. Thats thanks to my resolution, but thats because gaming on higher is still weird to me. But anyway, do as you wish, but if your minds made up dont look for excuses, just do it. theclueless
i had a $1500 budget for a high-end pc, but end up bought a mid-end pc for emulators, then use the rest of the planned money for a ps3 and 32in lcd tv
Draken
get a 360 and keep the best of both worlds: Don't worry about updates, but you have to tune your hardware and pray for it not to fail :p
Soldiers33
why would you choose ps3 over pc? with pc you can do anything,
Treemonkeys
Honestly if you have that PC and still think it is a hassle I would say just go with the PS3. It seems like you're upset over the activation than anything else and there's not much you can do about that unless you're willing to fly the black flag. neoadorable
i say do it, but don't sell the PC if you can avoid it. i now prefer console gaming by far, so my bottom line advice to you is go with the PS3..or perhaps a 360  ? a1ien
Cryengine 3 is coming, and it'll look like a huge step back from the PC if you try it on consoles. I'm going to get an NVIDIA GTX 380 myself when they come out, unless the Radeon 5870 is faster. No, personally I can't do without the cutting edge graphics that PCs offer. You have a 4890, right? That's not bad. If you can go back to a Radeon X1800XT yourself (equiv. to XBOX 360) go ahead. Edited September 14, 2009 by a1ien
