Draken
I was playing some games with a friend the other day and every time any game started he pushed all buttons like a maniac to skip all intros, and well, if you've played the game already go ahead and skip it, but he never played those games before, so you watch all of them, you hate them or depends on the game (like MGS4)? Corris Veteran Posted September 14, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2009 I watch everything the first time. But after that, I generally skip them when possible unless I'm going to find it interesting.
Draken
I can recall watching Soul Reaver I intro again and again hehe
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted September 14, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2009 I have heard of these things called game intros, have watched one or two, but what are these things you mention called cutscenes? That is my not so clever way of saying I tend to watch Intros because they are just that, but with cutscenes I skip them more often than not unless I happen to be into the story which is indeed quite a rarity. And for Intros I tend to like them way more if they are like Half Life, Chronicles Of Riddick, and Batman, where you are more the participant in the scene rather than truly just watching some movie. So I prefer them to be In-Game, but MGS4's was kick ass I recall too, I had no idea the movie had ended at first and I was actually in game. QFT. It's part of the whole "new game" experience. Like when you used to read the manual on your way home from buying the game etc :p Mmm that new manual smell
CrashG
I watch them the first time through, but usually after that I just skip them unless it's been awhile since I played the game or it was a really cool intro/cut scene.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted September 14, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted September 14, 2009 Watch everything the first time, skip in consecutive play throughs that happen soon after my first playthrough. If I'm revisiting a game months down the line I'll usually watch them all again. Some games I'll watch them every time.
YounGMessiah
I watch them first time through everything; then if I play again I skip them..
BajiRav
I wouldn't be much of a Halo lover if I skipped any intro/cut scenes. That said, I mostly skip during repeat but don't mind if I can't skip. I watch everything the first time. But after that, I generally skip them when possible unless I'm going to find it interesting. +
+Majesticmerc MVC Posted September 14, 2009 MVC Share Posted September 14, 2009 Like everyone else, I watch them once and then skip them, except I do occasionally watch the Left 4 Dead intro. As for your final question, nothing boils my blood more than having to sit through the same lousy cutscene over and over when you keep dying right after a really long scene. MillionVoltss
I wish mass effect 1 was skippable, hopefully 2 will be. First time is ok but boss battles where u watch the same ones is tedious.
d4rk5ky
It really depends on the game, it has to have a nice storyline. On the other hand if im going back to a game that iv already played, ill skip both, just cause.
BoneyardBrew Member Posted September 14, 2009 Member Share Posted September 14, 2009 I tend to watch an intro once, and then skip all cutscenes, even my first time through the game. I would rather play the game than watch cutscenes, and if the storyline depends that much on the cutscenes I probably shouldn't be playing it :p. I am also aggravated by unskippable cutscenes. I shouldn't have to watch anything I don't want to and as said earlier, it really becomes annoying when you have to replay a part several times and the cutscene is mandatory. Subject Delta
Normally I skip the intros and watch the cutscenes the first time I play a game. Everytime I play it subsequently I skip them all. Unskippable cutscenes are really annoying
Sethos
Normally I watch them the first time but it also depends on the game, some games I tend to just skip it if the story isn't interesting or the story isn't the 'drive' of the game. Jimmy0
When I first play a game I'll watch all the intros and cutscenes, however after that I'll usually skip them. Unskippable ones are extremely annoying, always give someone the option to skip it is they really want to.
soniqstylz
I can recall watching Soul Reaver I intro again and again hehe YES!! I do watch them in entirety the first time I play a game, rarely do I watch them over and over... for instance, the Killzone intro gets on my nerves that i can't skip it from the beginning. BlackSteyrAug
Depends on the game, for instance, Blizzard has some beautiful cinematic scenes that I can't help but watch every time.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted September 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2009 Intros and cutscenes are fine the first time, but after that they get skipped. If I actually care about the story I'll watch them, but in a game with a bad story like GTA (any one) I skip them straight away. Unfortunately I think Valve's cut scenes they have in game are great but terrible at the same time, they're interactive and great ways to reveal the story, but they're inherently unskippable, so when I play through for the 4th time the fact that Lamarr breaks the damn teleporter isn't a surprise, but having to wait for it to happen is more annoying. powerade01
I believe the first time you play a game you should not be allowed to skip the cutscenes. I mean, it is like fast forwarding thru a movie you are seeing for the first time.
HSoft
Yeah always skip through cut scenes. Want to play the game, not sit and watch a 10 minute video.
Pallab
I watch them once and then skip them during replays. I watched the intro vid (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) of DeadSpace beacuse it was awesome (creepy and freaky)!
Roadrunna
I watch intros and cutscenes first time then I want to skip afterwards. I'm playing Gothic 3 where I wish could skip some of the dialogue, I don't really want to listen to some old geezer character wheezing his way through his lines when I can read the subtitles in a fraction of the time.
