ReDFoX2200
I just don't get it what exactly is fun about this mod?
Vice
It's like Lego, you build things and you play with materials and that is whats fun about it. And of course you can do those things with others online.
SuperKid
Its amazingly fun if you play and communicate with friends, building funny stuff etc.
homeboyrocketshoulders
I played Garrys Mod at a lan party once. To this day it remains the most fun I've had with a multiplayer game. Just running around trying to slam shipping containers down on each other while spawning cars as shields was awesome. I dont know why, but it was just a lot of fun. I'd be all over this, but I already have the game.
BlackSteyrAug
I own this game but am interested in getting it for a friend. It says you need CS:S, HL2, or a source mod, so if I have an account with just Half Life 2 on it, nothing else, will it work to install it on that account? Only reason I ask is I've heard some people having problems installing it with just one game on it, whereas I have both games and a few source games on mine so I wouldn't know which it required. Anybody know?

Garry's Mod is a great game, sadly I can not buy it today, as I already own it.

BlackSteyrAug
Sorry I have another question, this one is more geared towards Steam games in general. Say I already own this game. Can I purchase another one on this account and later on use the Gifting feature to gift it to somebody? I have an extra copy of Half Life 2 on my account so I would just make a new account, send both games to it, and allow my friend to use that account. Umbrello
Probably not. I would say no on the GMod purchase, but you could just gift it straight to them. Refer to here and here for more information on the matter.

PricklyPoo
Downloaded this, all I can say is it is STUPID. Offline was alright for about 5 min, blowing things up, running around, etc, but it got boring pretty quick. So I've been trying to entertain myself online, but every populated server is pretty much kids / adults playing make believe. For example I was at this STALKER server, and I shot someone during a gunfight, they got mad because I was supposed to miss on purpose to make it more realistic...At this same server, usually people spend their time pretending to eat (standing on tables) and even crouching on beds to simulate sleeping. :s Other servers I've played at are jail servers, where you basically walk around and do what the guards say, kinda like what you did when you were five years old on the playground. Most servers seem to be kids arguing over who has ownership over an empty room in the map, and running around doing absolutely nothing. Maybe I'm missing the fun, but thats what I'm seeing so far. ozgeek
GMod is the "LEGO" of SOURCE. Spawn stuff to build buildings or make traps for enemies or even build cars that automatically chases down enemies for you.
ferus
I did buy it, the price was really great. I tried GMod for a while in offline but I couldn't get the hang of it. I got killed by Combine soldiers within a few seconds and I couldn't defend myself :-) Seems to me it needs a deeper investigation. But I only heard good things about GMod so I will have to be patient... :-) Though it's quite difficult to find time for it with TF2 and L4D installed at the same time ;-)
