Neo003
Developer of Tales of Vesperia wrote this on his blog. ?First off, it was easier developing for the Xbox 360. This is to do with the games I was involved with, but basically if you sign an exclusive contract with Microsoft (you won?t release it on other hardware for a year or similar), they will give you a lot of cash for development.Their support is also very fast and complete in these cases. SCE don?t really give much cash out (any at all perhaps). Their support is confused and unreliable. When I was doing it at least, the 360 was easier to develop for, which lowers costs. As a result, first we developed for the Xbox, reducing development costs. But the Xbox version won?t sell [in Japan], you can?t recoup even those lowered costs at all. So we ported to the PS3, it?s cheaper as you already have the game done, but then Sony came back and told us ?We won?t recognise it if it?s the same as the Xbox 360 version. Make sure you put in a lot of extra stuff!? If we didn?t then they wouldn?t have let us pass their check:laugh:/quote] Original Link Google Translater
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted September 15, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted September 15, 2009 Paid for timed exclusives for a year are sad, and then devs packing in free/new content to the PS3 version without giving it to the 360 version is sad. Cluster **** decisions like these annoy gamers this generation, someone is always losing out (the PS3 only owner being told for a year the game isn't coming, then bam it all of a sudden is, and the 360 owner who now doesn't get the new areas/levels/characters/story additions/gameplay fixes). Huge middle finger to this BS this generation. Sony/MS/Nintendo/Whoever put your ****ing money into your own games development.
Neo003
Funny thing is that the whole thing started after they made this pirate charecter in PS3 demo version of tales of vesperia. Now I see why japanese are so angry about that.

We, the consumers, are the ones that are all too commonly getting screwed b/c none of the consoles are living up to their expectations or potential, and yet they have fanboys despite mediocre results. I did not say that... Consoles are living up to expectations fine for me, I've played lots of great games this generation, and will continue to play more. madd-hatter
I did not say that...Consoles are living up to expectations fine for me, I've played lots of great games this generation, and will continue to play more. Well, I remain disappointed. There have been some good games, yes, but not nearly as many as I expected. On top of that, many of the "good" games really aren't good at all, they only shine in comparison to lesser titles. Despite graphics, processor speeds and online connectivity, I have had more fun with each of the previous gens. I know many others feel this way as well. Most of the true gems, for me, this generation, have come from the arcade titles. Graphics have improved with consoles, but I feel, at the expense of gameplay and pure fun. The best game I've played this gen is MGS4's campaign, second would probably be gears of war 1's campaign (2 was terrible.) Halo provided some great multiplayer moments but overall the connection issues killed it for me. Killzone is gorgeous but lacks proper multiplayer design, CoD4 is great but other than those titles, I find all the rest either overrated (most notably BioShock, GTA4, and Fable 2) or just not fun (Gears 2, Resistance 2.) So out of 3 consoles ($250 - Wii, $500 - launch Elite, $500 - MGS4 PS3) in 10 cumulative years (in November), I find 5 titles actually worth $60... Huge disappointment. And now after writing all of that, and reading it again, I'm even more disappointed b/c I realize it's true. :( 2nd edit: I guess we do have a promising future coming. I really hope it pays off. As of the time, I'm regretting being involved in this at all, it's been a waste of money and time. Hopefully GoW3, FF13, Uncharted 2, MW2 and others can bring me back up. I don't really recall Nintendo throwing around their money for major exclusivity (at least not in a way that's outrageous or majorly screws over the consumer).
