2K Games Announces February 9, 2010 Global Street Date for BioShock® 2

Sequel to the winner of more than 50 Game of the Year Awards marks the arrival of one of 2010?s most highly anticipated titles

New York, NY ? September 18, 2009 ? 2K Games announced today that BioShock? 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, will be available worldwide beginning February 9, 2010. The game is now available for pre-order at participating retailers.

Currently in development for the Xbox 360? video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation?3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows? LIVE, BioShock 2 will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action.

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 will provide a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive, as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin in collaboration with 2K Australia, Digital Extremes and 2K China for the Xbox 360? video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation?3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows? LIVE. BioShock 2 will be available worldwide on February 9, 2010. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

BioShock was awesome. It had great atmosphere and a really nice story. BioShock 2 on the other hand, has no involvement from the guy that crafted the first game. After seeing that crappy multiplayer, I don't have very much faith in the single player either. If this game has multiplayer achievements, I may avoid it all together. Because of that, it was never on my purchase list, it got moved to the rental list. Depending on how the reviews come out, it could stay on the rental list or get knocked off of that too.

I was skeptical at first for the same reasons you put, but after watching the developer diaries, I have confidence that they know what they're doing as far as the single player

Did it get moved up from March? I could have swore something said it was March but either way, the earlier the better! While I definitely don't have high expectations going in, it will still be Bioshock so...:D

I'll be pre ordering it, even at full price. I loved Bioshock 1 so much I simply can't wait for #2. Just hoping it goes onto Steam, so I can precache it and unlock it as soon as it goes live

really FRANK FONTAINE, you liked Bioshock. I could never have guessed. Will you be coming back as Atlas this time? "oh me wee family died on the sub!" That guy was definitely a cool customer, i don't blame you for picking him as your handle.

The Bioshock delay hurts - this had Xmas-mug-of-spice-beer written all over it...i just hope this doesn't mean they're not sure about it...wouldn't want to end up with a BioSCHLOCK.

Biohock 1 was pure win , without a doubt one of the best games ive ever played . I wasn't to happy to hear the release date for number 2 had been pushed back but hopefully when it's finally released it'll be a true masterpiece .

Epic Lulz!

That aside, I'm eager to play Bioshock 2, the 1st one was a true masterpiece and is definitely one of the best games in recent memory. I, however, do not like this multiplayer business, I'd rather they focus on making the single player game great.

Games lately have tried to not be single player only games, I think that is a mistake as I llove great singleplayer games with awesome stories.
