Modded Xbox thread

That's cool. I've got everything back together and it's back to normal (as in it doesn't always turn on :( ) I think I've narrowed it down though.

As you're looking head on at the Xbox, if you push the power lead in and pull to your right it will turn on. Maybe I've got a dodgy PSU, maybe it's the lead, god knows :(

I got a modded xbox too, and its excellent! Im using the Evox theme with Evolution X and Xecuter 2 as the chip, its excellent i think :)

The guy who chipped it did a fantastic job onsite, not even touching the chip itself, but flashing the bios and adding all the programs and emulaters. However, i dont know if it's just me, but the Nintendo 64 roms I have dont appear to work at all...

I only have 3 games, one works, 2 dont, they are:

works - WaveRider or something

doesnt work: Doom 64 & Starfox 64

Im not quite sure of the emulater im using, but anyway if anyone has a work around please let me know, and also if anyone knows where i can get good decent roms for the playstion please PM me so i can get more infomation.

Also, any good good skins for EvolutionX ? Thanks again :)

ur xboxs ip will vary depending on ur network setup.

if u own a router check n see if u are running dchp(meaning the router automatically assigns ip to what ever device is plugged)

or static. ( meaning u assign the ip to each device).

i tend to use static myself.

I find evoX the most stable dashboard. although there are some other good 1s out there (mXm).

i use an excuter 2.1 lite with the switch panel in the front.

XBMP for watching moviez..playin mp3s n such.

gotta have ur oldschool emus.. nes/snes/genesis/ and some are still in beta but getting there for ps1 and n64.

:ninja:

prick, many n64 emulators still have problems...but hopefully they keep updating it to iron out some of the wrinkles. on the other hand, mario 64 and mario kart 64 work almost perfectly. which emulator do you have? pj64-x or ultraxle? i have both installed on mine since some games work better on one, and other games work better on the other.

If you payed for a chip (and not just installation), you got ripped off. He flashed a new BIOS to your onboard TSOP, meaning you don't have a modchip, but just a modified original Xbox. That means you can't go on Xbox Live later if you're planning on that. :/

A bit off topic: Can anyone recommend any must-have Genesis/SNES games? I kinda missed most of that era since I didn't have a console. Just played a bit of Sonic and Mario at friends' houses.

I hope this doesn't fall under "Warez" in the rules, since I'm not requesting any files. And I suppose old console games are considered abandonware anyway? Otherwise, I apologize, and please disregard this post :)

cerbero, the tsop can have 2 different banks flashed to it. you can definitely have a modded bios and the original m$ bios side by side, so if you ever wanna play live, you can just flip a switch like you do with a regular mod chip.

what's scanning the hard drive gonna do? and how will it be 100% accurate?

i mean, i know what you mean, but what can they look for on the hard drive that will be consistent to everyone who has a modified xbox?

Since its possible to play on live with backups with the orginal bios their gonna need some way to detect a modified xbox... easiest place to look would be the hard drive imho. Should be pretty accurate if the hard drive is reported as one not issued by ms they could ban or even sommet like in counter strike they run a few commands on you box, if a F:\ is present they could ban etc

they have got to do something, just a matter of time... I dont play on live much now anyway, rather my pc doubt i'll renew next year

Oh, didn't know that. Damn :)

LiGhTfast: I heard MS already released an update for the dashboard which you need to update to if you even want to be on Live, where the Free-X exploit doesn't work. I'm not 100% sure though, since I'm not on Live myself.

I think that emulator is very old. Get UltraXLE instead. It plays GoldenEye, though without sound. But it's the only emulator for Xbox that does play it.

Question...

I was watching Screen Savers the other day and one of the guys mentioned that there were new chips in the horizon and that it would definitely be better to wait for them. Anyone know which he was referring to? All I remember is that the mod is a no solder mod.

No solder mods have been around for at least 6 months now. There are new chips coming (which include Xbox v1.3 compatibility), but nothing major (in terms of features) has been announced.

the x2.2 is already out, and supports the 1.3 xboxes, and can come with a pogo pin adapter.

i think they is talking about either the new x3 or the x-bit. they are both currently being worked on, and won't be out for a couple months.

here's the link to the x-bit. http://www.dms3.com/x-bit.htm

I dont see why anyone would buy a modchip right now, they will have the non solder stuff done and working on all the xbox's in less than a month more than likely...
