BroChaos Veteran Posted September 17, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 17, 2003 i thought there was something that the 3rd party remotes don't work with? i'd just recommend getting the ms one...
AndyD
Don't really have time to go through all the posts...hoping someone can enlighten me... Bro is getting a Xbox. I'm a little clueless as to what mod he should go with. He definitely needs the ability to get on Live. Can you do so using a nosolder mod with a switch? Or can you only do the combination with a solder mod?
o_87
I believe you can get the switch with a solderless option, but I think everyone here will HIGHLY recommend getting a solder option. It's just way more convenient in the long run. I think you should get a Xecuter 2.2 Lite.
AndyD
What makes it more convenient? I really think this thread should be turned into a FAQ of some sort.
o_87
With the solderless option, you get pogo pins, which you must align on yoru xbox, for the modchip to work. That's a pain in the ass, but there's more. If you accidently bump your xbox, or move it around, the pins are very likely to become unaligned, meaning you have to open up your xbox again to align them. Look here for how to install the Xecuter 2.2 Lite using three techniques: http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/x-ecute...n_diagrams.html - Pin header (Solder) http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/x-ecute...e_diagrams.html - Wires (Solder) http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/x-ecute...o_diagrams.html - Pogo Pin (Solderless) visit xbox-scene.com, and their forums, you'll learn a lot. AndyD
Does it matter what Model version you have when it comes to mods? I know for the PS2 this was a big issue when it came to modding the system.
BroChaos Veteran Posted September 18, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 18, 2003 not really. v1.0 to v1.3 can be hacked with the same modchip. version 1.4 and 1.5 are still being worked on, but there's a 99% chance you don't have a v1.4. BroChaos Veteran Posted September 23, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 23, 2003 like i've said, i've heard other people do it, without problems, as long as you read the manual, and do everything right, there shouldn't be a problem. perhaps search the xbs forums (they have one devoted to utilities like this) and see if anyone has come across any problems.
