forster
Latest price for a 7200 120gig is 81quid at my local computer dealer. There are rumours of the 7200's over heating? Anyone had this problem? I am confident in backing up games (Which I already own  :shifty: ) so I'm not bothered about getting it yet, but it is certainly on the list :) Theres also a local(ish) store that is selling preformatted 120's for just a little bit more. I've read through the tuts on varying sites, so know that I can do it, but I am wondering whether it is worth the hassle. Of course, if I dont try, I'll never know. And if it stuffs up, Ive always got the original drive, as well as the original c & e's backed up (as well as an evox backup cd etc etc)

forster
Any other software needed? Took the list from an email regarding my box. Will be using XBconnect / Xlink to connect to the net via my PC. X-ecuter Lite 2.2 modchip Xecuter2 4977 Bios XEvolution dashboard Media player video selector (ntspc/pal), bios utilities xboxplorer xbox copy full xbox configuration tool Dvd player (multi zone) HD games management Some are a bit vague, but I would recommend suggestions ! BroChaos Veteran Posted September 25, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 25, 2003 instead of boxplorer, i think x commander is better. also, i've never needed the ntsc/pal switcher. my xbox plays both fine. i'm in the US though, so i don't know if that matters. forster
Possibly something to do with altering the refresh rate? NTSC games will usually play black and white or fuzzy on the TVs over here, might have something to do with that? I know that my tv supports 60hz tho, and can play US PS2 games with no problems, so I dont forsee any. Will check out xcommander.
Joe User 99
There are rumours of the 7200's over heating? Anyone had this problem? No problems here either. I have a 120gb 7200 in mine and has been flawless. XBox scene will give you great information on everything XBox related. And as far as everyone against no-solder mods. Mine works great! Never a problems with it.
forster
XBox scene will give you great information on everything XBox related. Yup - its been a wealth of help over the past few days. forster
XBox arrived yesturday, been playing SC2 and its great. Going to be trying most of the homebrew software this evening, incl. emulators etc. Pretty chuffed with it, although the software that was loaded to the system is a bit daunting. Networked it to my PC this morning, I definately need a bigger hard drive than the default XBox - if anyone knows of a better deal than ?81 for a 120 gig 7200, please let me know. Not sure of the specs on the HDD as to whether it can be locked or not, so suggestions would be appreciated. :woot::

AndyD
Need some opinions. Got a guy in NYC that is willing to do the install. Here's what he can do for me... "The basic install includes the new x2.2 lite chip, this chip comes with a switch panel and indicator light mounted on your xbox." He'll also install all the apps that I will need. Is this worth $110? The guy has a very good rep over at xbox-scene.

Well, he said he would take off $10 because I told him I was bringing 2 XBoxs. But the price is now up to $120 because he charges $20 if I bring my own harddrive to get installed. I would have thought the price already included harddrive installation. Seems a little odd that he would charge me for that. What do you guys think? I can tell you I normally charge 35.00 for the chip and 30.00 for the install, if they want an upgraded hard drive I typically charge an additional 30.00, or an additional 15.00 and keep the original hard drive. AndyD
What if someone wanted a switch as well? How much would you charge for that? The guy has a good rep over at Xbox-Scene.com so I doubt he's trying to pull a fast one. I still want to make sure though. I should check out the store in Chinatown that did my PS2 mod a while back. BroChaos Veteran Posted October 3, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 3, 2003 xectuer 2.2 right now. v3.0 will be out soon though. also, the new xbit is supposed to be really good, however it's brand new, and unproven.

The Xecuter 2.2 Lite comes with an external switch module that mounts under the front lip of the Xbox, it allows you to turn the chip on or off and has a blue LED that corresponds with the switch, and of course installation of that is included with the installation of the chip since it is a part of the chip. What will be the differences between the new chips and the 2.2 lite? I can't think of anything I need that the lite chip can't do. Thanks for the info Brian. I may have to try and see if I can find other installers then.

Just try and talk him down, tell him you've talked to other people and that they offer lower prices, otherwise look for someone else local. I would offer to do it but shipping costs to and from would make the price similar to his, the prices I quoted are for premods so the shipping is only one way. ForeverUnknown
does the xbox model matter when looking at modchips?
Briandl79
does the xbox model matter when looking at modchips? To some extent yes, that is if you mean model like Version 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 Some of the older LPC modchips like the Xecuter 2 and 2.1 do not work on version 1.3 and above, that is the same for some of the cheapmods (if not all of them). The same can be true for some of the older chips like the Matrix that are not compatible with models that have the D0 in a different spot.
