o_87
The only way I can think of is to borrow harddrives off of friends and then slowly put it all on your new 250 GB.
BroChaos Veteran Posted October 20, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 20, 2003 well i've found that the 2 hard drives on the xbox (replacing the dvd drive) doesn't work. if worse comes to worse, i'll take the new 250, format for pc, ftp from xbox to pc, take out old 160gb from xbox, format it for pc, copy 250 to 160 on the pc, put 250 in xbox and format it for xbox. sheesh, how long does copying 130gb take?? o_87
I meant like hooking up those hard drives to your PC, therefore you won't have to format.
BroChaos Veteran Posted October 22, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 22, 2003 well the 250 is here. i should be putting it in tongiht. i've never put in a new hard drive before, so any tips would be appreciated. just use the evox boot cd, right? i wonder when i'm supposed to update my bios with the lba48 patch, before or after? ~clean
You'll need to do it before coz the bios wont pick up over the 137 limit and wont format it.

Briandl79
is $265 allot for modden x-boxit comes with chameleon. That's a decent price, I prefer (as do many people the Xecuter line of chips) but the price is good otherwise.

BroChaos Veteran Posted October 23, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 23, 2003 yeah, you can pretty much fit every game on a dvd-r. they average anywhere from 700mb to 3gb.

Briandl79
edit how big are x-box games usally?are most able to fit on dvd-r? (for back up purpose) Game sizes vary greatly. I've seen some games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, which is only about two to three hundred megabytes, and other games that are up to 4.3 gigabytes, there are very few games that don't fit on a DVD for example Metal Gear Solid 2 which is about 6.41GB
Kompressor
Question: do all xboxes have USB slots just like a normal PC has in the back/front?
o_87
The USB ports are modified USB ports, and are only for the controllers, therefore they are in the front only.
cerbero
Yeah, but you can buy adapters so that you can use USB keyboards and such. I'm not sure if any games support playing with keyboard. It's mostly useful if you're gonna be running Linux I suppose.
BroChaos Veteran Posted October 23, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 23, 2003 there's some rpg that uses the keyboard. i think ms will send you the adapter for free too.
Timan Veteran Posted October 23, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 23, 2003 PSO, goto xbox.com and their gear store to order it, its free you just pay shipping, also with the new xbox dashboard you can use it to edit your music and stuff.
