woohoo!! 250GB hard drive here i come!!!!!!!!!

now, i just need to find a better way to get my 130gb from my current hd to my new hd. i could go xbox>pc>xbox. but that's gonna take a long time, and i don't even think i have 130gb free on my pc.

is it possible to hook up the new hard drive to the dvd drives ide connector? hmm, i'd need to get power from my pc or something though. any ideas?

well i've found that the 2 hard drives on the xbox (replacing the dvd drive) doesn't work. if worse comes to worse, i'll take the new 250, format for pc, ftp from xbox to pc, take out old 160gb from xbox, format it for pc, copy 250 to 160 on the pc, put 250 in xbox and format it for xbox. sheesh, how long does copying 130gb take??

well the 250 is here. i should be putting it in tongiht. i've never put in a new hard drive before, so any tips would be appreciated. just use the evox boot cd, right?

i wonder when i'm supposed to update my bios with the lba48 patch, before or after?

Game sizes vary greatly. I've seen some games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, which is only about two to three hundred megabytes, and other games that are up to 4.3 gigabytes, there are very few games that don't fit on a DVD for example Metal Gear Solid 2 which is about 6.41GB

Yeah, but you can buy adapters so that you can use USB keyboards and such. I'm not sure if any games support playing with keyboard. It's mostly useful if you're gonna be running Linux I suppose.

PSO, goto xbox.com and their gear store to order it, its free you just pay shipping, also with the new xbox dashboard you can use it to edit your music and stuff.

so what do you do with games like that if you have the stock hd, meaning if I did not want to use it to store a game?

well my xbox is modded and i still have the stock hd till Briandl79 upgrades mine *hint :p, I can store up to 5gigs on E and I have 2 on F, thats with the original 10gig hd.

So far I havnt had any probs with any games, crimson skies is 4.5 gigs i just have to delete my TMNT AND SSX3! to play it, so these type of games your just gonna have to shell out hte money and buy for :)

any monkey can install a new hd :)

just change over the ide / power cable (exactly same as pc)... then get get a nice evox hd installer from the usual place.. put it in the dvd drive and press install :)

just done this today as my mate bought a 120gb hd for his, first thing you do when its all up and running is replace evox... that is one ugly dash now.
