Which game system would be better for me?

Didn't they get rid of the pro version and mark the elite down to it's price? If so, then it should be coming with a 120 gig HDD then; you won't run out of room fast on that.

Oh, never mind. 60 gig is good though, you could easily install games, DLC and arcade games on there.

After checking out both, I am now leaning towards the 360

*Stares at you giving you hypnotic waves 'Go get a 360.' :p *

Also does the elite in the US cost $299? If you can afford it, go for the elite unless your budget is tight, get a pro.

I would want a pro and 1 year of live, since thats the same price as a ps3 $299

You pay for Microsoft's LIVE service but as everyone should know... The party system is completely screwed.

I have no idea why they charge for their service. PSN has dedicated servers on some games unlike the Xbox 360 which is completely peer-to-peer.

PSN all the way!

What? The party system works flawlessly for me, even reconnects me to my party if i DC, it's better then having no party system at all (PSN).

Because of websites like that, and articles, I still believe that they have a high failure rate.

First off, all three of those links are quoting the exact same GameInformer article. They aren't three separate stories.

That recent article found that number by taking a poll of 5000 people. Take one guess and tell me who is more likely to take a poll asking if your console has failed: People who's console has failed, or people who's console has worked fine.

There aren't any more issues with the 360 anymore than any other console. Anyone can tell you that.

Another thing with that survey is that there are no figures regarding which chipset they had in their 360s.

MS have overcome the RRoD problem for the most part.

Owning all 3 current gen systems, I tend to find myself on the 360 more than the other 2 consoles. I find playing on XBOX Live a lot more enjoyable than on PSN, where I mostly feel like I play with bots since I never hear anyone using their headsets. Also, I have 3x as many friends on xbox live than on psn. I must have been kidding myself when I bought Fat Princess last month thinking that I can find a good online experience I can play with all of my friends, similar to the experience we had playing BF1943 on XBLA.

Coordinating 4 or 5 friends to play on xbox live is so much easier than on PSN, which seems to be the most complicated process. Also, Netflix Instant is a huuuuge plus. I am not impressed with Home at all, and don't see PSN being "free" as presenting any kind of value if I hardly ever use it.

I usually turn on my PS3 when I watch blu rays or play exclusive games. Usually if there is a multi-platform game, I choose the xbox version because of the controller (my personal preference) and achievements. Oh yeah, AND the fact I could talk with my friends while we play different games.

Uhh, no.

Ignore this guy's post (N)

Yup, all EA games (afaik) are dedicated. Which is a major drawback in certain situations, like BF'43s launch and when games die in popularity they will turn them off eventually.

Obviously they have some games which still include options to host your own, which is the ideal solution. Best of both worlds then.

I would go with neither, and I have all three systems.

I find myself evenly swapped between 360 and PS3. I import games from Japan for the PS3, and have gotten into a lot of the beta's. I enjoy the Live's party system a lot more, and to me it seems like it lags less. However, sometimes I just want silence. I don't want to have to concentrate on people being stupid. I was to win the game. I'm quite competitive and I normally listen to my own music while playing games so I can hyperfocus on the game play.

I see good and bad with both systems. If you have a huge party or you're playing a FPS. You need voice chat. However, if you don't want to talk and you want to listen to your own music/hyper focus directly on the gameplay blocking everything else out. You'll want the PS3, because in my experience. A lot of servers kick you out if you don't talk. Which to me is epic bull****. Just because I don't want to bitch like a little school girl and call everyone a hacker because I'm losing should not effect my status in the room.

I find both fanboys whiny. 360's are like the kids I play Counter Strike with, While PS3's are videophiles who can't shut the **** up about blu-ray.

I haven't played either series in a long time. But I would go with Gran Turismo everytime. Sorry :)

The tables have turned, well saying that, they turned quite a few years ago :p

GT aint the king anymore.

I'm going to be picking up a 360,with 1yr of live, Grand Theft Auto, and call of duty to start me out. Although I am buying call of duty used.

Just have to figure out when.

I'll be sure to add my Xbox live ID to neowin, so other members are able to add me!

I know you seem to have made up your mind already but thought I would add my 2 cents as I have both Ps3 and 360 so hope I can be fairly un-biased.

Please also remember these are my opinions while there may be many who do not agree this is how I feel about both so please don't quote me and try to prove me wrong!

with the PS3 i think the pro's are;

Blu-ray built in

Wi-Fi built in

Free online gaming

Web Browser

Unfortunately I would have to say that's it, Cons;

flakey online system (Game drops, disconnects)

over complicated UI

Market place seems to lack content

Updates to the console seem featureless

for the 360 the pro's are;

Party system

Market place seems to have a lot of new content each week (game demos, videos, game add-ons)

although time between can be quite long updates bring new features

easy to use UI

Online gameplay rarely see's drops in games

Cons for the 360 are;

loud noise from disk read (although installing to HDD gets around this)

costs for online gaming

additional cost for Wi-fi

known to have failures (I am on my 4th console, although MS claims to have resolved this with newer models)

Out of the above dispite the 4 failures I would still pick the 360 over the PS3, as I have just found the experience a lot better.

Simple little things like having a removable battery pack so that It can be charged seperatly whilst still playing make it so much easier than having to resort to cabled gaming with the PS3 when the batter dies make it so much easier for me.

I hope you do make the right choice with the console!

Now my 2 cents :D

It is just mine, or does the PS3 get freakin loud too? Those powerful fans suck my undies right outta the draw! And with the ability the install games to the 360's HDD (which i do to every new game) i think the PS3 loses in that category

I'd rather pay the AUD$50 a year for Live. You get AWESOME Arcade games, more DLC and an awesome party system. I love talkin to my mates through different games and not havin to listen to the whinny 12 year olds playing COD:MW :p

The biggest upside for the PS3 is Wifi IMO..i have a wired connection to my 360 and a wireless connection to my PS3 and Wii. Wireless is slower by a mile. If the 360s adapter wasnt freakin expensive then it wouldn't be so bad

EDIT: Avatars are cool too :D It's awesome to see your avatar smashing out Du Hast on Guitar Hero 5 :p
