AltecXP
Opera seems to have made itself the default for torrents and .swf files on my Mac. Are there any bad side effects from just deleting Opera.app?
instant.human
your headline is a little strange. ;) you might want to read it again and find the error. however, just change the default for torrents and swfs by rightclicking on a .torrent or .swf and bringing up the information-window. you can then change what to open it with. or just put opera.app in the trash bin. No, he is correct. Opera comes embedded within the CS4 app. I have deleted it fine, when I do a preview it comes up in Safari now :)
halcyoncmdr
Yeah the Presto engine is used by CS4 to render. Not sure if deleting the app would prevent CS4 from working, so I would recommend just changing the defaults back.
Subject Delta
Just open Opera, navigate to opera:config, and disable bittorrent
the evn show
At work we're using CS3 and I was able to chuck it out without issue in photoshop, flash, indesign, or illustrator. I don't use dreamweaver so I can't comment on how well that works. It would be very unusual for it to cause problems though. I only have Photoshop CS4 at home (as opposed to the entire suite: I couldn't justify the cost): it doesn't ship with opera so I can't see removing it causing any issues. .Neo
I believe it's only used for certain online aspects.

pdmcmahon
I found it in the following locations in CS3, I have removed both with no side effects: /Applications/Adobe Bridge CS3/Bridge CS3.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera.app /Applications/Adobe Device Central CS3/Device Central.app/Contents/MacOS/Required/Opera.app
.Neo
Why would they add the entire application like that in the first place, instead of just the rendering engine?

sanctified Veteran Posted September 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 22, 2009 Because Adobe are tools. Right, the developers for some of the most complex and efficient apps in the design world are tools ;) Most probably Opera reached an agreement with them, this is branding positioning. I am with you on that one, they are probably in bed with Adobe just like some of the freeware apps that I use that try to bundle x software with their app. Adobe needs a rendering engine that Opera has the patent too, and Opera says they can use it provided they bundle the browser with CSx.
