Adam1V
Im looking at purchasing a time capsule and wondered which one is the best? I believe the MB764LL/A is a dual band and most probably the latest, but I cant find these model numbers on apple's website. Is anyone in the know able to tell me what the fastest/best time capsule is?
Elliott
I believe all the Time Capsules support multiple channels for two concurrent networks (one for b/g and one for n).
Hendrick
The only difference I was aware of was the size... 1TB to 2TB.
Adam1V
I dont beleive either of you are correct... Since there are 500gb models around and I believe the first batch of capsules are not draft n wireless? I might be wrong about the latter though. the evn show
The very first time capsules 802.11n only (which is backward compatible with 802.11g/b). If you use one of those as your base station and add your iphone (or any other 802.11g device) to that network the whole thing drops to 802.11g speeds. Later versions have separate 802.11b/g and 802.11n radios. b/g devices get picked up on the b/g radio, n devices get picked up on the n radio. This allows both kinds of devices to operate on the same network without the g devices slowing down the n devices. You can approximate this setup on old time capsules by connecting a second airport (extreme/express) to your time capsule via ethernet and setting it to bridging mode. Set the time capsule to only accept 802.11n devices and the extreme to only accept 802.11b or g devices. I bought my time capsule the day they were generally available (march '08?) so it's one of the first ones to roll off the line.
