+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted September 23, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted September 23, 2009 The Xbox 360 has been the only game Console this generation, to stream on-demand movies from the Xbox 360, directly unto your TV screen and into your living room using the leading provider Netflix. This is because, for now Microsoft has an exclusive deal with the Company that prohibits them from being on any other gaming platform. But thanks to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, the good folks who own other consoles like the PS3, and Nintendo Wii, the wait will soon be over. Speaking with Reuters, Mr. Hastings confidently relayed his vision for the Company, here's what he said: "Eventually we want to be on all the games consoles, all the blu-ray players, all the internet TVs. So we are working in parallel with all those efforts. Currently our Xbox deal is exclusive and we haven't characterized it more than that," Reed stated. So, if you've been wanting to get the latest movies on-demand, and you don't own a Xbox 360, your wait it seems, will soon be over. Breathe easy. The Teej
If a similar thing happened to us over here with lovefilm, I'd be all over that.
scokem
It'd be great to have them on all consoles and I'm with you AudioBoxer - we need it in the UK! I remember when the new NXE was announced I read somewhere that Netflix planned on launching for the UK around the same time but then a few weeks before it launching, I read an article saying they'd had to postpone it due to money :(
Si_
I wish Netflix would focus on rolling out more countries before rolling out more platforms. Once they've launched and have a solid base in the UK and whatnot it would make sense to leverage that and then launch on PS3 or whatever else. Would love to see LoveFilm give it a go though (Y)
Michael1406
Netflix wants to be on my console, and I want Netflix (or similar) to be on my console. So let's get the ball rolling!

Would love to see LoveFilm give it a go though (Y) Yep shame, Netflix would make a killing if they just offered an 'internet only' service, eg Xbox 360, PS3 and their own STBs/built into TVs. I can't see Lovefilm doing it for a while, their web-based service is ****, and isn't even free for people on their top packages. At least we are getting Sky soon.
