+Mystic MVC Posted September 23, 2009 MVC Share Posted September 23, 2009 I got a call from my friend yesterday. He was eating ramen and trying to use his Macbook at the same time and well I think you know were I'm going with this one. Needless to say he called me up and said he is buying a new laptop. He is going with a cheap PC because he can't afford to buy a Macbook right now. Before his Macbook fried, he had an external drive that he said was doing time machine backups. If he gets a PC, can those time machine backups be used somehow to get back his data? If you guys need anymore info let me know and I can call my friend. He didn't give too many other details because as you can imagine, he was just a little frustrated. :p

Rudy
I don't think that's possible, he might be able to get to the files one by one using something like macdrive
Ricardo Gil
I think all the files are there in readable format, he just needs the HFS+ drivers to read it.
DigitalE
If he installs Mac OS on his computer via hackintosh methods, he should be able to restore from a time machine backup with no problem.
