DJD
Hey guys i have just a quick question for you guys, does anyone else experience slow download speeds through marketplace as of yesterday. I have a 20 Mb connection and it takes my 360, 20 minutes to download a 680 MB demo. The problem is my connection got bumped up from 3Mb to 20Mb this Tuesday and my router crapped out every 5 minutes when downloading at full speed using my PC, i got that fixed now but now i'm getting slow speeds using marketplace. Now either its marketplace thats just damn slow, my router thats having another problem or it has something to do with that new update MS released. I took all the necessary steps on my router to make sure nothing gets blocked, like putting my 360 in the DMZ, turning on UPnP and port forward all the necessary ports. I also cleared my 360 cache, but i just can't get it to download any faster. Oh yeah just so no one asks, my PC is able to download at full speed. So does anyone else have this problem. neoadorable
the fact your connection went up that much in speed won't make a big difference...Xbox Live will only allocate you so much bandwidth, depends how many people are online, how far you are from the server. just like any connection. the speeds you're quoting are theoretical, i've been on 8Mbps connections that were barely able to sustain 1.5Mbps. Then there was the iTunes 8 debacle, where tons of people went back to dial up speeds over night regardless of ISP. Does NL mean Netherlands or something? As much as they claim otherwise, XBL is still a US-centric service, hands down. But to be honest 680MB in 20 mins isn't that bad, you're just expecting too much. Not much worse than me - i just downloaded a movie maybe 1.2GB total, took at least fifteen minutes, and i'm in the US. So who knows.

Yes i'm from The Netherlands, i guess i was expecting to much from a service i pay for. But i'm also fearing my router is doing some managing of its own. I have been having a lot of stability issues when playing games. I fear my router is closing ports whenever it feels like. Connecting to party's is no longer possible :( But anyways thanks for the help, i at least now know that i'm not the only one having slow download speeds on live. neoadorable
i reiterate, the download you described is by no means slow. think back five years...once more, your problem is you're expecting Minority Report/Eagle Eye stuff, ain't gonna happen for now. I would suggest trying a direct connection, see if bypassing the router and just connecting the 360 to the modem/wall makes it faster. Routers are known to cause this kind of issue, after all. I already ordered a new router, also i think i was expecting much from live.
