lothodon
Has anyone here fixed their RRoD or freezing boxes with a repair kit? If you did, which did you get? How much did it cost? And most important, did it work? My elite is freezing at random times, and it's not from the heat, as I can restart immediately and game for hours...or minutes. It's not a RRoD but simply graphical corruption associated with a hard lock. Since only the RRoD/E74 errors are covered under the three year warranty, I'm not covered by Microsoft. I'm very mechanically able, and have no issues taking the matter in my own hands, just looking for "the best" kit to use.

Asharae
Im also looking for a rrod repair kit for a xbox that I have lying around, where would be a good place in the UK to get such kit?
lothodon
It will red ring on you soon... i've tried to "abuse" it my leaving it on for hours, even leaving it on after it's lock up, but a quick power restart and it seems to work fine. dashboard will stay running forever with no hickups, just games lock it up. different games do it too, doesn't matter if they are installed to the hard drive or not either. i'm at a loss, and i guess i'll start my long plow through what i'm sure are countless scam sites to find a legit repair kit. Draken
I don't know if a repair kit is necessary, I've repaired my console (from RRoD) using parts from an average hardware store with very good results (1 month ago).
