KyleGM
I was happily playing Arkham Asylum and I got to the bit where you had to save the guy in the electric chair, I was playing the game on very High settings with Physx off and no AA and it was running fine. Then once I did that bit it is almost unplayable! Even when I restart the game it still is laggy and my CPU is at 100. What the hell happened? I tried turning down graphics but it still is happening. Help guys?
+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted September 27, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted September 27, 2009 That is quite weird. Is there anything running in the background that was not before, could be using processes and all that.
KyleGM
Hmm nope there was absolutely nothing else taking up excessive amounts :\ I left it for a while then restarted my computer and seems to be fine now, although there was some slight sound stutter but its gone completely now. Played it for a good hour there and was fine, if it happens again then I don't know what to do >.<
+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted September 27, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted September 27, 2009 Yea it's quite a weird sounding issue. Never heard of someone else having the issue. Makes no sense really.
KyleGM
Ok it just happened again there now. Was playing for about an hour then it became unplayable, CPU shot up to 100 :\ The weird things is though as soon as I pause it, the menus move fine and are fast. The only way to be able to play it is to restart my computer, but now when I play it I'm getting a weird sound stutter :( It's an amazing game from what I've played just can't because of these issues! RAID 0
What do you have running in the background?
KyleGM
But it runs perfectly for the first hour, then becomes unplayable and the only way to play again is to restart the computer. And even after it becomes a lag fest, my task manager still looks like that. :\
Kenji
Click on show processes from all users then post another screenshot.
»X«
Long shot, but your graphics card or indeed CPU wouldnt be overheating would it? Seems like after an hour of high use the computer spits it out. Maybe look into temperatures? So its only this game? Maybe try another intensive game for a while and see how it goes. Did you get it from steam or by other means? As in, does it have the latest patch to enable Physx?
shakey
I've had the same issues, but I do not need to restart my computer, just the game. It starts to get sluggish and the sound has these odd hisses and pops/crackles when it shouldn't. Normally happens when its loading up a new area. I think its something with the coding of the game and certain machines.
gonzolife
It is a legal version of the game? I've read in some places that in this game they used some interesting deterants to illegal copies. I know on I read somewhere kept you from flying/gliding (or something) at a critical point so you couldn't progress through the game. If that isn't it then I'd check and make sure that your drivers are up to date and that you are running the most current release of firmware for your motherboard. Guyro
gonzo, ive heard you only get that issue somewhere around the batcave level
KyleGM
This is directly after the issue happening (about an hour again) -It's a legal copy from play.com -I have the latest 1.1 patch installed -I played Dead Space on full settings for around 6 hours straight without any problems (no problems with Resident Evil 5 either) -I was at the place where I had to rescue Cash, and had 1 guy left to kill. So once I rescued him I got the in game cutscene, and it ran smoothly and as I said, menu's etc run fine. -When I restart the game without restarting my computer, the lag starts as soon as the intro "DC" and "Rocksteady" comes on! It's just really frustrating :p The game is absolutely amazing though, I'm in love with it!

gonzolife
I don't have this game so I am just kind of shooting in the dark. But in searching around for your issue I did find this. Not sure if this will help or not. http://www.unigamesity.com/how-to-fix-batm...es-and-freezes/
KyleGM
Already checked that out but thanks gonzo >.< Only read the comments there now though and they seem to be having the same problems, it seems to be realtek they use as well. And one guy said it freezes after 5 minutes or 1 hour and thats what happens to me so at least I know it's not my computer xD

Snowl
new sound card / graphics card?
XmoshiX
I'd check for overheating issues, start with the temp app of your choice, play for an hour, and when it starts to lag, check your temps again. To add to the experimentation, take the side of your case off and put a fan next to it, then play Batman or Red Faction.
