Sign Up For The Old Republic Beta

logo.jpg

Star Wars: The Old Republic, most eagerly anticipated Star Wars MMO since the last one, is now gearing up for closed beta testing, and the time to sign up is now.

Signing up for the Star Wars: The Old Republic community is your first step towards become a closed beta tester for the next big Star Wars MMO. BioWare wants active community members as testers, as active community members are more likely to provide feedback than dirty, stinking lurkers who lurk and stink. Once you've become a member of the community, you can visit the Game Testing Portal to sign up for your chance to be a part of Star Wars history or something.

Mind you there are no guarantees, but such is life.

Sign up to test STAR WARS: The Old Republic!

Thank you for visiting www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com. We are making adjustments to the site due to the overwhelming response to the testing announcement. Please be patient and check back later. We estimate that the site will be back up in the next few hours.

So BioWare can't even handle a simple beta sign-up program without their servers being brought to their knees? This does not speak well of their infrastructure and ability to properly manage said infrastructure. In fact it's pathetic.

Yeah, I'm sure they're going to run the game servers on their web server.

How does their web servers being stressed because a overwhelming amount of people suddenly hit it represent how their game will do? Of course their game servers will be much more powerful, i think the amount of people who tried to sign up is a good sign, there is already alot of interest in the game.

What sucks is that it's still down. Eventually i may just stop trying and then say screw their game lol.

Good luck to anyone attempting to sign up right now.....took me about 40 minutes until I was finally able to get by enough server not responding messages to not only make my account but register for the Beta (and do the system scan). I'll probably update the scan after I get my i7 (motherboard and processor come in tomorrow but the water block isn't due in until Sat. :( ), figured I might as well register ASAP just so its done, even if my system will be getting an upgrade in a few days.

****ing froze at the system scan **** and now back to square one

The system scan is sort of buggy, I got to it once on IE8, didn't move so I refreshed only to read that other people with the same problem were able to hit tab and get to the submit button (others ran IE8 in compatibility mode for the site and could see the button). After multiple failed attempts at getting back to the system scan I finally got there on FF which, after the scan showed the submit button.

It's buggy as sin.

It detected my USB microphone as my freaking sound card.

Bioware needs to be knee capped for this one. :|

That's quite bad lol
