Nagisan
It's buggy as sin.It detected my USB microphone as my freaking sound card. Bioware needs to be knee capped for this one. :| Same with me, but my headphones have an inline DSP chip.....still an incorrect assumption but I have a feeling its looking at whatever sound output you are using, and thinks its your sound card. alright screw this, tried three time entered my info and all that stuff, and just when it seems like it's going somewhere it goes back to the make an account page I entered all my info at least 5 times before I got anywhere....I even made it all the way to the system analyzer twice. Once it finally worked and I submitted my system info, it went back to the system analyzer a third time I so ran it again just to be sure. :p

IceBreakerG
Finally got the account created, just waiting on the activation email. I was able to do part of it last night, and last night my user name (IceBreakerG, which I use EVERYWHERE), was available. I tried to get in last night, and I get through the first page about account info like User Name/Password, email address, do you accept this and that, whatever. Then I get an error page saying it's down for maintenance. I try again this morning, now all of a sudden that name is no longer available, wth? I had to come up with some random bs just to finish that part. Made me do the system scan like 3 times (first time I didn't know I needed Java). Probably did that account info page 5 or 6 times, and the personal info page 3 or 4 times. I hope their game isn't as buggy as their website, because this is sad. coth
got in finally. should be ie7. first the site does not allow you to register if you click become a tester at registration. the script for testers seems to active before the script to send an activation link. second. if you checked no thanks during registration it won't let you to sign up for beta test. so after you clicked an activation link you need to switch it back to yes. then you need to open ie and turn in into ie7 compatibility mode (can't believe lucas arts still work with such an outdated software) only in ie7 compatibility mode system scan will work properly

Eric Veteran Posted September 30, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 30, 2009 Wow, crappy... A java applet? Why not just ask people to run DxDiag and attach the report? If your users can't do that they won't be submitting bug reports either.

gigapixels Veteran Posted September 30, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 30, 2009 It finally worked for me. I went ahead and registered without doing the beta sign up. After I'd registered, I did the beta sign-up and it sent me back to the first page after doing the scan like it had done before. However, on the next try, it went through. I didn't do anything different on that try, so I'm not sure why it worked. But hey, at least I'm in. Oh, and this was on Firefox by the way. Make sure, if you're on Vista or 7, that you allow it to actually scan. The confirmation dialog comes up behind the Firefox window, so you don't see it unless you switch to it in the taskbar manually. And it uses Java, so make sure that's installed as well. Nagisan
only in ie7 compatibility mode system scan will work properly That is, if your attempting to do it in IE8, which I originally was....finally got it to work via Firefox though. It finally worked for me. I went ahead and registered without doing the beta sign up. After I'd registered, I did the beta sign-up and it sent me back to the first page after doing the scan like it had done before. However, on the next try, it went through. I didn't do anything different on that try, so I'm not sure why it worked. But hey, at least I'm in.Oh, and this was on Firefox by the way. Thats what I did, registered first, signed up for the beta second......funny thing is I tried for about 20 minutes to do it all at once on IE, FF and Opera 10, I was finally able to get the plain registration to go through on Opera (as opposed to registering and signing up for the beta at the same time)....received 2 email verifications... I then went back to IE and FF (not sure if the system scan would work w/ Opera) and tried getting registered for the beta itself for another 20 minutes before finally getting it to work in FF (got that far once in IE but it crapped out when submitted the details)....received about 10 emails that my account was updated. :p Registering for an account first, then editing your account details to sign up for the beta seemed to work better for me in the end, regardless of browser. And for reference, when I ran the system scan on FF, it ran once, I clicked to submit and it went back to the system scan page....I ran it a second time, submitted and it went through. I agree they should have just made us upload a DXDiag....its completely independent from their servers being hammered and it gives much more in-depth and accurate results than their system scan seems to provide.
