Emn1ty
Well, fell into a xbox.com mimic site, entered my info to log in an wham my account was gone. Just wondering what other's experiences with account hacking has been. Are you usually able to recover it if you notice within 24 hours of the incident or are you usually forced to make a new account. And if the latter is true, are you refunded any DLC that was lost? Emn1ty
I already did. Account has been frozen and they are investigating. This all happened within a few hours so all I'm asking for is some comments from others who have had this happen and what their experience was. Just to get a better idea of what I'm up against. Sounds like its time to use WOT (web of trust) don't feel bad I did the same thing with a fake rapidshare site, I felt like such an idiot. Though that was before I had web of trust. Emn1ty
Sounds like its time to use WOT (web of trust)don't feel bad I did the same thing with a fake rapidshare site, I felt like such an idiot. Though that was before I had web of trust. I normally don't click anything that I'm not sure about. This time I just happened to click it thinking it was relevant to the discussion on the board. This is the first time I have done it in the many years I have surfed the net, so I was actually surprised that I was caught. I'm yelling at myself for this since I have seen this kind of thing happen time and time again and though it would never happen to me. Oh well, guess I had it coming. neoadorable
did this fake site really look like the XBL log in page? wow. what's their incentive tho, what can they get out of this?
Emn1ty
They started spamming the b.net forums, friends on b.net, groups on b.net, and now are starting to spam my XBL friends with Microsoft point crap. I don't really ask what the motive for this kind of stuff is because it is usually so miniscule of a reason it's just something that doesn't matter. what
did this fake site really look like the XBL log in page? wow. what's their incentive tho, what can they get out of this? Microsoft Points.
neoadorable
but how can they get at our MS points? You mean take over the account entirely? so the motivation is clearly credit card information. how surprising. bunch a jerks. EDIT: guess there's some upside to being bankrupt! what
Well credit card info should be encrypted, but they can use the Microsoft Points to purchase content and play it using another account (I think).
