Thinking of going back to a MacBook Air

Recommended Posts

I had the original Air, and ended up selling it to get one of the Unibody MacBook Pro's. However I find my self missing the mobility that came with the Air...what to do...

I think I'll just get one with a SSD, that should make up for the lack of speed.

No, it's twice as much. I would have hoped for a 256GB, but it sure is coming in under 6 months.

But LOL at the topic, it seems to be a personal reflexion, I mean, what can I say about it? :p

mobility?

So your 13" macbook pro was too big? The 13" MBA is SO much more mobile?

Will having a "more mobile" computer help you complete your tasks? Does it offer any benefit other than being lighter?

Are you buying it just to have something new?

I don't want to be a downer, but I just throw out some questions to try and help.

Tbhonest if mobility is that big an issue get a UMPC

That UMPC is almost as slow as my cell phone. I need a Notebook.

Get a 13in pro, the air is the most worthless thing I've ever seen, it's only for bragging writes and money wasting.

If it had ALL the specs of the 13pro AND a optical drive, then I might care.

It actually ****es me off at work when a SVP requests one to migrate too, then they ask why its slower then the 15in MBP's.

If you find the 13'' MacBook Pro to be too "large," then maybe you shouldn't have a notebook at all.

The MacBook Air is awful and there's no point downgrading to one.

I'm actually thinking of getting a 10 inch netbook like a MSI Wind or an ASUS EEE because my laptop is a 16 inch which is great for designing/programing, but it's heavy and too big to take to a coffee shop (for example)...

So yeah I understand you, BUT I wouldn't trade my "primary" machine for a smaller computer. These lighter/smaller laptops like the MacBook Air are great, but as a secondary computer.

Get de 13" MBP and not the Air because the Air is not as mobile as that 13" MBP will be. Yes it's a bit thicker and heavier but it does come with an optical drive, 2 usb ports and a battery that can last up to 8 hours which is twice the amount of the Air. All that for a price much less then the Air ;)

You must be a huge weakling if a 15" laptop is too big for you. I take my "bulky" 15" Thinkpad with me everywhere i go.

I may have a Kaypro 10 CP/M luggable still lying around you can use. It's about the size of a carry-on bag, weighs oh 25 pounds or so, and has a whopping 7" CRT in it. It even has a 300BPS modem and a 10 MB harddrive.
