GEIST
I have a 6.59 GB *.dmg file on my Macbook Pro that Snow Leopard (and previously Leopard) can't seem to delete at all. When I move it to Trash and then empty Trash, it will progress to a certain point (i.e. Items to delete: 5) and just stay there. Last time I tried to delete it, I gave up after 2 hours. Then when I try to stop emptying the trash, nothing will happen there either and it sticks at 'Stopping...' forever. I have to force quit Finder to end it. After that, the file's still in Trash, and when I move it out again, I can't even mount it anymore. I'm not a very experienced or knowledgeable Mac user (yet?) so I can't figure out at all what could be causing this issue, how to resolve it or even just where to look for any pointers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

redvamp128
I am not a Mac User but however I did find this. http://macosx.com/forums/apple-news-rumors...-file-help.html I had the similar issue with Hardy for an .iso image. After reading that page it could be mounted. So once again command line to the rescue.
Phantom Helix
Or you could try using the secure empty trash or you could do a complete empty trash, that empties all trashes regardless of owner or volume
