neoadorable
they're terrible quality. have gone through three of them in less than three years. currently without one because was too cheap to buy another one. they always break, don't think you're special here...the contacts loosen, the mic burns out from moisture etc. i think MS is focusing on console QA and not giving their contractors too much of a hard time on peripherals. the controllers have also dropped in quality lately, while the consoles are now very reliable. what
Only had two in three years. Yes they break, but at least they're cheap.
Guyro
im still using my first one, that is now 2 years old granted my friend had to do a bit of soldering on it but apart from having a problem then it has never played up

neoadorable
re-soldering a simple accessory like a headset to make it work doesn't bode well for quality...
Sikh
All I have to say is TURTLE BEACH X1's. That was my cure to this problem. I could see myself going through this soon enough when I got my 360 last year and a friend recommended to me that I am better off getting turtle beach's. I used his and instantly spent $80(now 60 at most places) on this headset. Let me tell you, the most comforiest headset ever. I dont care if that is a word or not, this headset is amazing. 5.1 surround sound, 2 volume controls, 1 for voice, one for game. Its comfy and soft on your ears, youll forget its there if your playing a long game. It has a VERY FLEXIBLE Mic. Also has a big foam pad on it. Noise cancellation is a big plus. Nothing around you can go through that mic, but if its alittle bit away from your mouth and you say "hello" it picks up perfectly. Let me telling you, I got a co worker to get one and since he has gotten one, we have sold 6, we only got 1 to begin with to see if our store sells them good, and now people are on a waiting list for them. Sooner or later you are gonna end up spending the money on cheap microsoft crap headsets so why not just pool that money together and get a headset that is tough as hell. Also for you pc gamers out there, you can use it on PC to. I use it for 360 and PC. Great value.

NikBrooks
I've gone through 3 or 4, but one of them was totally my fault. Fair enough the quality is poor, but they are reasonably cheap and you can usually fix them yourself too. Ive gotten a few more months out of mine from doing a little DIY to it. Im looking into these turtle beach X1s now though, looks like a nice little purchase.
Matthew S.
I'm still on my first one (my first mic, even though i have 3 is 3 years old), it's been the port on one of my controllers that failed... what am i doing wrong to make the mics last? Brad.
X3's are 5.1 iirc? I've been waiting for them to release officially in the UK for MONTHS. Officialy release is november/december I think :)
+Mystic MVC Posted October 5, 2009 Author MVC Share Posted October 5, 2009 I think the X3's are 5.1 but I'm not for sure. The more I did research anything at the X3 level and below isn't that great. To get a great overall package you have to shell out at least $150.
Sikh
^ Ok if you have roomates or whatnot The X1s SOUND AMAZING for being a headset. The features are endless. PC/XB360 Use, Great sound, double volume controls, Last longer and are very comfortable. Of course if you can use your surround gaming at 2am then more power to you, but when I cant use my surround sound + wireless headset, I put on my X1's. Since I live at home / my mom is anal. Surround sound goes off around 6-7. So as a sub the X1's are great. I got the x4's. They were worth the $200, great wireless NO interference, but battery magnet so I took them back. They are worth it only if your playing on tv speakers. They ARE 5.1. I was wrong mystic, the x1's arent but they sound GREAT for stereo sound.
