+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted October 5, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 5, 2009 Apple ads hint at thinner iMacs, lighter MacBooks, cheaper Mac minis First on AppleInsider: A trio of online advertisements that appear to have been published prematurely by one of Apple's international online stores suggest it's only a matter of days before the Mac maker takes the wraps off of new families of ultra-thin iMacs, lighter & thinner plastic MacBooks, and more affordable Mac minis [updated with other countries]. The Netherlands-based Google Ad Sense ads, which can be seen below along with their Dutch to English translations, cropped up on Google.nl earlier this weekend and direct shoppers to the localized version of the Apple Store, where the advertised products are not available. Assuming the ads were indeed commissioned by Cupertino-based Apple, they'd corroborate a series of forward looking hardware reports first published by AppleInsider over the past several months. These include expectations of thinner iMacs, redesigned polycarbonate MacBooks with thinner, sleeker enclosures, and speed-bumped Mac minis. The new offerings are also expected to be accompanied by redesigns of the company's Mighty Mouse and Apple Remote, as well as aluminum wireless keyboards. In recent weeks, Apple has informed its direct and indirect sales channels of constraints on MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac minis. Many of the company's resellers are also sold out of iMacs and Mac minis and have been given restocking estimates of October 7th and 9th for those two products, respectively, suggesting a formal announcement regarding these Mac hardware refreshes could come as early as this Tuesday. Some Apple retail stores also reportedly received new signage in the past 48 hours that's not to be opened or displayed until further notice. MacBook Dutch: Apple's Nieuwste MacBook. Rudy
I'm thinking of getting an iMac, I will see what the new ones will be like and either I will get one or I'll just stick with my good old hack

PyX
I'd be asking for : - Revamped iMac design (with a smaller chin to make the 24'' more ergonomical) - High quality, LED display - New line of video cards - New mouse (let's just face the fact that the Mighty Mouse sucks) - A price reduction of about 100 - 200 CAD - At least 10% more processing power (quad-core unlikely IMO) - Faster DDR3 (more than 1066MHz) (unlikely, but I'm crossing my fingers) - Blu-ray option (highly unlikely, if it happens, make the option available for all computer lines while we're at it) The keyboard's supposed to change, but I like the current one, it's not a necessity. I'd really, really love quad-core, but I think it's called asking too much. They're supposed to make the design thinner once again, not what I expected. In fact, I would appreciate if it was a little thicker but with better components. Unfortunately, this is not their plans this time, according to all these rumours. If they do the rest, I will still be really happy I will end up buying one anyways, because mine is sold right now :) But since the iMacs weren't updated that much last time, I think this one should receive a huge speed bump and noticeable design change. Quillz
unless the 13in has 1440x900 lcd, im not interested This. Any 13-inch Apple notebook needs to have a bumped up resolution. Even some small form factor netbooks with 11'' displays have better resolutions than the 13-inch Apple notebooks.

Even some small form factor netbooks with 11'' displays have better resolutions than the 13-inch Apple notebooks. No thanks. My eyes are already suffering on 1280x800, I don't want the situation to worsen. Unless Resolution Independence is out, that is.
Gary2MBz
Let's hope they put an ATI 5000 series in the next gen revisions. If they have refreshed it already, they are already going to be obsolete.

Gary2MBz
That and they have to throw in HDMI. It's the only way the mini is going to sell. They have a mini-displayport connector on all the macs and the Mac Mini has DVI-D out too. Its $30 for a mini-displayport converter as well. Omen1393
Hey, the price of the mac mini actually doesnt sound bad. Of course i could get a i7core PC now for around that price, but i've been wanting to try mac out for a while now.The mac mini on the apple site right now says it costs $599. Is that before or after the price change? I havent actually looked at the mini's before. Didn't know they were this cheap (compared to the others). If they make the price reasonable, a mac just might be the next computer i buy. I wonder what the limitations are on a mac mini? I mean besides it being more compact, so it'll be harder to upgrade Why would you get a nettop when you could get a system 3 times faster for the same price? Doesn't make too much sense to me. V-99 ODST
doesnt to me either. Lol, i really just wanna give the mac osx a try :)no one i know uses a mac, so hmm. Guess i gotta buy one that isnt too expensive. I already bought a i7 core system and i dont even really need to get another system. What i need a laptop, but the apples are way too damn expensive, especially for 13". Never would pay that much for low specs. Just get yourself a well equipped ASUS notebook from newegg, they really pack on the specs in there!
