Emn1ty
So far, I have looked into this problem as much as possible on google and only come up with solutions for the main boot drive. I am using an external WD 500GB drive which has some things on it I would like to keep. I think the reason it has failed is due to time machine, but the actual error is this: Verify and Repair volume ?REACH? Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume. Detected a case-sensitive catalog. Checking Extents Overflow file. Checking Catalog file. Invalid node structure Volume check failed. Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed. I have tried verify and repair and both get the same answer. The drive is visible in disk utility but unmountable, and partitioning is a no go either. The only other thing I can think of doing is reformatting the entire drive but I would rather get my information off first. I would just plug the thing into my PC and grab stuff but it is in a Mac format due to using it for Time Machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Guest
hey dude, i am guessing that you have tried all this booted from your os x disc? There are some disc recovery tools out there that you could try, if you are willing to spend some money. Disk Warrior and tech tools deluxe, i am guessing that if you have been looking around on google then you know of all these already. You could always get a copy of spinrite and see if that can help. I have known it fix some disks that where in a sorry mess, you will need to run spinrite on a machine that does not use EFI. It needs a traditional bios that windows machines use. Please let me know how you get on. Cheers Richard
Emn1ty
I don't need to run it from the OSX disc, since it isn't my main drive. I think, however, I will just end up reformatting anyways since I cannot even remember what is on it. Most of the stuff I want to keep I found on my iPod. Anyways, thanks for the response.
