Left 4 Dead 2 to Get $25 Million Advertising Campaign

Maybe it's just me, but while I liked the original, I didn't see what was so great about it. It wasn't as fun as a straight singleplayer game, the lack of much of a story or big set-pieces make me hesitant to call it a great co-op, and it just didn't deliver a multiplayer experience I cared for.

I don't get how Left 4 Dead may be Valve's best selling game. I just don't see what's so great about it. It's not bad by any means, but I mean... they make Half-Life. This sells better than Half-Life? Even if it is more mainstream, it's unjust.

I thought it was pretty good, aside from some bugs that they've yet to iron out (and probably won't be ironed out now that L4D2 is coming in November)

I don't even think they need that much of an advertising campaign, as most of the people who've played the first one either love it or hate it.

I really enjoy playing this game. Especially when I'm on a team that works together. And I don't recommend playing on Easy or Normal unless you're just killing time. Playing on those levels does make it rather dull, but when you play on the more advanced levels, it can be real fun. Or if you play in verses mode.

The problem with playing single player is the AI is dumber than **** and you can easily get steamrolled. That's my biggest complaint is the AI is not balanced. The AI for the infected is super smart, while the AI that helps the human is dumber than Paris Hilton.

Left 4 Dead 1 was their first major success on consoles though, hence lots of mainstream coverage = sales. Knowing Valve, they'll probably be one of the very last to abandon PCs in favour of consoles (*cough* Epic *cough*)

Game's not bad overall if you can forgive the uneven team stacking that happens in versus.

25 mil? Really? It's not a very good 360 game to be honest and all the console kids will be too busy fapping over MW2's MP to notice another shooter come out.

While I'll be buying it as I enjoy L4D a great deal. I just think such a vast amount of money is wasted on what is, really, a PC centric game.

thats why games cost 60+$, not because they re expensive to develop nor the downloaded copies over the net but for the ridiculous amount of money they expend on ads, and we pay for those ads.

it happens in every major game on this gen, im starting to hate videogames.

yep

and they cost alot, and most end up being a dissapointment or short lasting

the gaming industry is starting to digust me, so many bad games are coming out with amazing advertising to catch players and then dissapoint them

Try playing with your close friends in Versus and you'll understand what the fuzz is all about :)

Doesn't matter how much they are paying for advertising as long as they still get the game banned here in Australia!!! :@
