+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted October 6, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 6, 2009 my guess is that they do this for $$ - because most ppl have both pc and console, but wouldn't want to wait... so they will buy it for console, which prevents piracy. Not on the 360. Real reason will be higher profit margins on console version (retails for ?55 here, PC version can be bought for like ?20 odd), and also PC version will get free map packs, where as on the console they'll be able to bend everyone over and charge for every map pack. Most hardcore gamers will have a PC and 360/PS3, this will test the nerve of the people wanting to buy it for PC and play one day 1 like everyone else. I'm sure the game will be leaked early and people will pirate it as soon as it's uploaded. Activision can go **** themselves for charging what they are for the PC version. RRP's are as follows I believe Console - ?55 PC - ?45 PC RRP is terrible, but luckily retailers are discounting it heavily. Not so fortunate with the console versions... boogerjones
Screw Infinity Ward and all their Developers to hell.Huh? This has nothing to do with Infinity Ward's developers. It has everything to do with Activision, the publisher.

Cheshire Cat
This sucks big time, but I'll wait. I'll take improved graphics and controls over early release and X-box Live anyday as I'm a PC  The fact that so many are getting set back like this suggests to me that it's either to better enhance the PC versions to bring the platform back into the limelight where it belongs (unlikely) or it's a knee-jerk reaction to the "piracy" issue (most probably). If the tw@'s that ran these companies started treating us PC Gamers better and stop charging stupid amounts for games, stop calling us all pirates by filling retail games with vile DRM's and Rootkits and stopped trying to charge for things that have always been free on PC then maybe us PC's would respect them more. t0mbi
then maybe us PC's would respect them more. When they are making sooo much money and selling out the console version, do you think they really care about your (PC gamers) feelings towards them? And the added 'bonus' of piracy doesn't help they fact they lean towards console (Yes 360 has piracy too, but nowhere near as much as PC) Do Activision normally crippy there PC games with DRM as bad as EA does??? t0mbi
..and if people say playing a gamepad is impossible or hard or **** compared to a keyboard...seriously.. c'mon! If you can master aiming with two thumbsticks..that takes alot more practice and skill to do that than to aim a mouse.. NienorGT
Since Call of Duty 4 the main development system is the 360. The PC version is actually a port and enhancement (Mod support, Server Support, etc). The PC need more work on the game. I guess this is the reason, instead of getting a patch on day -1 (The patch being released 1 day before the release...) they are getting more ready. I hope it's that. It still sucks tho. It is that impossible to talk PC game without the horde of "Console is better, learn to use a game pad, etc" comments? It is VERY annoying. Spookie
(Yes 360 has piracy too, but nowhere near as much as PC) You'd be surprised. ?25 job from a man down a back alley. The games work online AND you save ?35-45?
NienorGT
Good, rather have a delay than a crappy game like CoD5... AkA reskin of CoD4Call of Duty: World at War (5th in the series) is a game developed by Treyarch built on the CoD4 engine made by Infinity Wards. It was the same game for both consoles and PC... MW2 (6th in the series) is a new game with a new updated engine built by Infinity Ward. The next Call of Duty (7th in the series) is already started by Treyarch and will be built on the MW2 engine. And so on, this is Activision's 2 year development alternation. But there is no difference any more in games between main consoles (X360 and PS3) and the PC (except the obvious differences made by the platform itself) Just to say, before that, the consoles Call of Duty where specially built for the console with a different storyline: Call of Duty 1 was Finest Hour Call of Duty 2 was The Big Red One And Call of Duty 3 was console only all together. Oh trust me.i know about piracy on the 360..my purchase of Assassin's Creed 2 is..a first of sort:p:p... I have say...15 mates who have a Xbox 360..only one (and me) know about ixetreme and whatnot and when i tell them about flashing the firmware, they are all scared of it (warranty reasons, no Live). But about 12 of them have Plants Vs Zombies..and not one purchas:p:p

Which neatly brings me on to my other point, ignorance is the only thing stopping piracy being a huge issue on the 360.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted October 8, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Pretty much nearly everyone I know fairly well on Neowin with a 360 has it modded  I will say though in amongst my real life friends only a few have there's modded, ignorance is bliss, and a can't be arsed attitude from their friends who know how to mod  Just like with the PSP when you have decent internet knowledge and know how to follow an ABC guide, and it costs nothing to mod, it'll be popular. zeke009
402 claims to have no knowledge and that everything was fine when he left for Europe, which (if true) would give some credence to this being an Activision stunt. IW forums are blocked at work... anyone know how many angry posts the thread is up to yet? http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopi...13&t=114522 What is really annoying is that there is nothing we can do about it... at all. Don't you just hate it when they delay a game. :angry:Yes, when there is no official word or the reason does not appear to be technical in nature.
