Deleting files

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Recently i have tried to move some files around, i have moved files from external HDD to internal HDD and want to delete files on the external HDD (Not format, files i need to keep) However i keep getting "error 43"

Any ideas on solutions?

Thanks

It's possibly to do with the file names having invalid characters. I'm pretty sure the list of invalids are '? [ ] / \ = + < > ; : " , | *'

Can you check the permission of the files? Right click a file, click "Get Info" and then the 'Sharing & Permissions" section. Your OS X username should have read & write access.

Well, your last resort you might want to consider (if nothing else in this thread works) is just to copy the stuff you want to keep on the external drive onto your internal drive or another external, formatting the external drive, and then moving the files back. :p

Sadly, 1TB External HDD and 320gb internal, the maths dont work there :p

As for permissions, the sharing & permissions says

"You can read and write"

Ah, okay. :p

So, is the drive is HFS+ formatted? If so, have to tried repairing disk permissions in Disk Utility?
