George P Global Moderator Posted October 8, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted October 8, 2009 While the Persona games are nice and all, Atlus tends to make their games a bit grind heavy. It's sorta scary. I never bothered finishing SMT: Nocturne because it became an endless random battle fest with little story development after countless hours. I dunno about the rest but I like RPGs for the story first and gameplay 2nd. You could have the best battle system in the world but if the story is going to bore me then no thanks. Emn1ty
GP, JRPG's have always been super grind heavy. FF, Star Ocean, Phantasy Star, Tales of, Persona, .Hack etc are all amazingly grind heavy games with many rewards that promote grinding. Desgea has an for doing billions of damage or even playing for 10 hours in one sitting. JRPG's are about endurance, which is why I myself practically loathe them. If you're not convinced look at the achievements for Tales of Visperia (PS: The first is 20G and the second is only 10G): Too Much Free Time Description: Patience. Hours and hours of patience. Requirement: This requires 100 hours played. or No More Grinding Description: Just fight and fight until you don't really need to fight anymore. Requirement: You will need to get every character to level 200.

I love Persona, but my potential GOTY is Demons Souls which Atlus just brought to the west ;)
