+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted October 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 13, 2009 An anonymous reader tips news that Blizzard will be requiring all World of Warcraft players to use Battle.net accounts to log into the game starting on November 11th. After that time, players who don't switch will be unable to play the game. Some time after the transition is complete, players will be able to "participate in cross-realm chat in World of Warcraft, create real-life friends lists, and communicate across different games." More details on the new Battle.net and what it will do are available in our Blizzcon wrap-up and interviews from August. Naturally, the idea that the new Battle.net is getting closer to deployment has sparked speculation that the StarCraft II beta might come along soon. Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted October 13, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2009 honestly i do not see why there are soo many people that are raising a fuss about having to merge their account it makes things safer and more difficult to have your account hacked not to mention the added features that they are going to implement for it later with WoW : Cat might not be anyone here complaining yet but the official forums are QQ all over the place. Stokkolm
Yeah, people are stupid to complain about this. The new Battle.net is going to be SWEET. It'll be so nice to have an Xbox Liveish experience with my Blizzard games.

How so? From my understanding when it comes to friends, you may have no idea what their username is since using the same name as your character is retarded and many times, the name you're going to want will probably be taken. With how it is now, all you need to know is their email addresses, which is something many others may share with one another without a second thought. All it comes down to then is the password. Now, I got myself an authenticator, so I don't really feel threatened about being "hacked". Still, I'm concerned mostly for those who don't. Let's not forget that the WoW / Battle.net accounts do NOT HAVE CASE SENSITIVE PASSWORDS. For those that don't already have them, authenticators can be found off their store. They are in stock and don't cost very much ($6.50). Free shipping too I believe.
