+Fulcrum Subscriber¹ Posted October 13, 2009 Subscriber¹ Share Posted October 13, 2009 I am trying to configure a MacBook Pro to output display to a projector, but the only cable I have is a USB with 2 ends: 1x VGA out and 1x DVI out. I tried connecting them and setting the project to the correct source, but nothing was displayed. Do I have the correct cable to accomplish this? How do I configure it? You need a video cable, not USB. Depending on your Mac it could be either mini DVI or mini display port.

I had to solve this by setting up a pc laptop with a straight vga, So this cable is not for connecting to an external display?

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but if you're hooking up one of the new MacBook Pros (unibody laptops), you need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI or Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. Once you get one of those, you connect just like normal: with a DVI or VGA cable.
