Apple Magic Mouse

Recommended Posts

This mouse could actually be a solution to "touch screen" on computers that do not posses it. It's multitouch, and theoretically could be programmed to do anything with that little surface. Now we just need a tactile multitouch keyboard :D

Agreed. I think this is the tip of the iceberg. Expect Microsoft and Logitech to follow-up with their own multitouch devices. Pretty soon this is going to be common-place.

they should come up with a wireless backlit keyboard with a mutlitouch trackpad la http://10gui.com/video/ or atleast a small one onthe side of the keyboard.

The mouse is underwhelming considering it cant pinch, rotate or zoom. anyone know if gestures can be added.removed via software ?

If they want all this multitouch BS, why not strap a mousing surface to a Touch or something.

Who gives a **** if a mouse looks cool as long as it works. That Magic mouse is just a crap design.

That Magic mouse is just a crap design.

I'm glad that you've used it already and are making a very informed and eloquent opinion.

I think its very appealing in design and shape. The flat bottom looks a little odd compared to the rest but it wouldn't make sense if it was round. I'm curious how well it will 'click' I assume it still has a clicking function like the original hence the gap between plastic and metal.

I already order a bunch to replace the various mighty mice in my house. Damn scroll wheel is broken on them all.

No 3 or 4 finger scrolling. This mouse is hardly as "multi-touch" as Apple is claiming.

(and it looks horribly uncomfortable to use). And for a mouse thats going to be nearly $100 Canadian, I'll pass.

No, it's logical as it's far too small for three or four fingers. Making it wider wouldn't leave space for your ring or pinky to grip it.

One thing: you can't right-and-leftclick at the same time with it. Some games I play(ed) used that function quite a lot (including World of Warcraft)

Not true. Drivers can change the whole thing.

Right now, the right click can be made with either a click on the top right corner, or from what I've read a click with the index and the middle finger at the same time.

Change the drivers, and the last thing can be 2 clicks at the same time.

But this is not really a conventional way of controlling a mouse. 2 clicks at the same time... I used an app called CATIA once and it was a pain in the ass when we needed to do that to view different things in our 3D environment.

Personally, the Magic Mouse is the first mouse that picks my curiosity from Apple. The Mighty mouse did, but not for a long time, because in fact it was a mouse like any other, but with a 360 degrees scrolling ball (which was awesome, but then got dirty. The Magic Mouse gets rid of this problem)

Plus, Apple's now so used to the Touch technology that one would think this new mouse works flawlessly. I'll tell you guys a little bit more when I receive it in November... if I'm not the 200th person to say something.

Are you sure? I thought it was multitouch >_>

(* about not left-and-right clicking at the same time *)

Yep, clicking with two fingers at the same time simply results in a left-click.

I am very interested in this mouse but I don't have a Mac. Would this work on Windows?

It might work with a Boot Camp driver, but otherwise, probably not.

Currently it does not work with Windows. Maybe they'll update the drivers later on.

[irony]Yeah, and I'm sure it'll work as good as the multitouch trackpad drivers[/irony] :p

edit: While I thought about my post... that's actually double irony, isn't it ;) ?

Yes, it's nice, but here's where Apple once again go for super cool features and cool design over practicality. They want to push gaming, and who's gonna use this mouse when gaming? SERIOUSLY.

Pretty slick though.

Hardly anyone uses a Mac to play games dude. That's what Windows is for.
