DannyCSC
I have been playing Forza 3 for the past week and I am severely disappointed! I do like the realistic car handling and thats about it. NFS:Shift has this game beat in every other aspect. NFS:Shift is fun, Forza not so much. As a simulator Forza is great, but for a fun video game Shift has it down pat! So bring on the hate and let me know what you guys think.

Mike415
I thought NFS Shift sucked balls. Wasnt smooth gameplay at all and wasnt realistic, nor fun. At least PGR4 was fun.

Downloaded the Demo of both Forza3 and NFS:Shift for the 360, and though I am not a rabid racing fan, I have to say the NFS was hands down the more FUN game to play. Graphically they both do well, NFS kills F3 in the cockpt view - whereas F3 is much better outside the car and scenery wise. The way the game plays and feels is where I rate it most and I went with NFS - purchased it and have not regretted it. To each his own, and btw I am NOT a fan or EA at all, yet I still find myself buying at least 1 of their games a year Edited October 21, 2009 by Vue_Redline
Chicane-UK Veteran Posted October 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 21, 2009 Sigh. This is why there are many video game companies making different games.. because not everyone likes the same thing! Just because you hate it, doesn't mean it'll 'fail' - in fact I suspect it'll shift a heck of a lot of copies. For me, Forza wins over Need for Speed EVERY time... I love more simulation / realistic types of racer. Watching the Veyron in NFS:Shift ripping up to top speed almost instantly and power slidling around every corner at 200MPH+ put me off immediately!! Agree with you on that respect. Forza 3 "IS" much more realistic simulation racing - NFS is more arcade like, you have to tweak the settings to get the sim/realism aspect close to what F3 is out of the box. Those that appreciate racing games will probably pick Forza 3 for sure.
Konstanov
LOL at the Carolinas, to every state in the south racing means a straight 1/4 mile line. You throw turns in there and everybody gets confused.

You throw turns in there and everybody gets confused. Dont lump me in there just because I reside in the Carolina's! I like Nascar and other forms of racing - and more openly pretty much anything that is competitive in nature, but I do understand where you are coming from. The Carolinians do seem to have predetermined minds about what the term "racing" or more commonly around here "Racin" means!

Wow, you're Awesome, just because you're not one of the many peopel who apreciate Racing games that are realistic sinulation rather than jut games, you create a forum thread to whine about it. And well done on playing it for the past week  Half hearted searching for what Forza is probably would have told you it was not the type of game you wanted or liked and you didn't need to bother with it. But then we had whiners like you the last Forza as well, people who complain it's not a fun arcadey racer with story lines and special nitro effects and what not. Just because it's not a game you like certainly doesn't make it fail, and definately not a bad game, it just means it's not a game for you. For it's class of games, Forza is one of the best(possibly one game with better sim, but after the new tire sim and such, I doubt even GTR it much more)but on an overall score, Forza 3 is arguably the best racing sim out there. A game for those that enjoy the racing and the handling. And not so much for playing a racing game for a Too fast too furious story, wich is better on the movies anyway, and where the racing is serious and not just about pushing the other cars out of the way. Pablo2008jedi
You can't compare 2 different styles of games, thats just wrong. NFS:Shift is an arcadey type game designed for fun. Forza 3 is designed for the hard core racing sim fan. There-go 2 completely different types of games. I don't even own a xbox 360 and I know this! +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted October 22, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 22, 2009 Photomode in Forza 3 is quite sucky, and the graphics aren't as good as I thought they'd be, but it's much better than NFS: Shift.
Dotdot
The depth of this user review is just astonishing. I like X over Y because Y is more "fun" than X. What you mean is , "hi im comparing an arcade racer with simulation elements, to a simulation racer with some arcade elements". Personally there to very diff games aimed at 2 diff types of racers out there. NFS - Casual pick up n play Forza - Hard pick up n take a day to perfect your car setup. Personally as someone with a REAL interest in cars, how they handle and work I fined NFS to be something for the weekend race fans. Me i,ll be sticking to Forza so I can retune my F50 GT :)
DannyCSC
I never said I didn't like realisim. If an arcade game can make better car models and better scenery you might want to start firing people. You can make a super realistic racing game and still be entertaining. Im talking about the details here people! Im not stupid I know the difference between arcade and simulation. Who is going to make the blend of both?!
HawkMan
Forza isn't trying to make a blend of both, they're a pure sim racer, and it's not about cam do, it's about to do this better, we would need to sacrifice some of the simulation performance. and there's nothing in Shift that comes even closing to racing on the Desert stadium on Forza 3. As for Shift having better car models... hehe, yeah.. good one. maybe with the pretty filters, but the accuracy and polycount of the Forza models are unprecedented. It's the difference between peopel modelign their cars off of pictures, and people being on site with every car, laser scanning it, taping it up with a faux mesh grid and hand measuring, while also recoding all live engine sounds and such. you say you know the difference, but you don't seem to actually know it. and what you seem to want is not a sim racer and forza will never not be a sim racer. deletedxyz
Oh, look. The OP likes arcade racers and not simulators but fails to realize the two different racing genres so he proceeds to attach an overused meme to his lack of understanding... Irony... As a simulator Forza is great, but for a fun video game Shift has it down pat! So bring on the hate and let me know what you guys think. i actually think the opposite... Forza 3 is FAR BETTER then NFS: Shift because not only is it realistic... it's MUCH MORE FUN to play. (plus not to mention Forza 3 is THE BEST racing game (be it Sim or Arcade) out there. period.) NFS:Shift's main flaw is that it took out the strength of the recent NFS games which was the "COPS" ... which is WHY (for me) Most Wanted is still easily the overall best of the new NFS games. NFS Shift on the other hand also changed the gameplay which i preferred the older NFS Most Wanted driving style. (basically the core gameplay has been pretty much the same in the NFS series since Underground all the way up until prior to Shift) it was a big mistake imho for them to change the gameplay to try to get arcade/somewhat sim as the games strength was the cops/arcade like feel to it which they removed the cops AND got rid of the core gameplay that i liked about the NFS series. p.s. to get the most FUN out of Forza 3 (and Forza series in general) you MUST play with ALL ASSISTS OFF (you can use automatic if you want but i use manual with clutch myself) as it makes it more fun/challenging that way. As for Shift having better car models... hehe, yeah.. good one. maybe with the pretty filters, but the accuracy and polycount of the Forza models are unprecedented. It's the difference between peopel modelign their cars off of pictures, and people being on site with every car, laser scanning it, taping it up with a faux mesh grid and hand measuring, while also recoding all live engine sounds and such. i actually think the 'engine sound' area is the only MAJOR area Forza series needs alot of work on. because take for example... a Ferrari F40... listen to that in the game and then listen to it (even stock) on Youtube and there's a BIG difference. same goes with alot of muscle cars. but basically the engine sounds are to WEAK sounding to.... but besides the engine sounds the game is pretty much perfect.
