Panacik
I have installed 7 on a number of machines now and have started the final testing phase at work. Each time i install the OS, i always get ready to do the usual things that we would when installing the likes of XP and Vista - that is to download drivers, install updates, troubleshoot issues with the machine that may turn up etc etc etc. For some reason i am still always surprised when i install 7 and it only takes maximum of 20 minutes to install on an old machine. Then i am further surprised when after the install, there is no more than maximum 2 drivers missing. Further more i get pleasently surprised when going to Windows update, it finds these devices and automatically downloads and installs the drivers for them. The interface on 7 is sleek and zippy. I love the fact it automatically makes restrictions on the interface you recieve depending on the spec of your machine, so it does not slow down in other areas. Honestly, even if i wasnt an IT geek etc, i would still say that 7 is the best OS that MS has created since XP and is easy to use even for the least tech savy. I upgraded from Vista and in preparation I downloaded the Win7 version of my graphics, sound, and network drivers, and that was all I needed. I was so surprised when I went into device manager and saw no messages waiting for me. Also, with the same programs installed, there are about 10 fewer process running than I had in Vista. I had XP for many years, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I used service guides to trim it down to fit my needs and it worked like a dream. A fresh installation with the latest service pack was always a great eXPerience for me. I was comfortable with XP. With Vista however, I was intimidated though I'm not sure why. I can see that level of comfort returning with Windows 7 after a time, and I'm looking forward to it.
