Matthew S.
its a Netgear: DG834Gv5 Firmware Version: V6.00.25 daft question, these things do work on ADSL modem/routers dont they? If it uses standard 802.11a/b/g then yea it should The red light might mean it's a defect if it still hasn't turned green... Now it might have more to do with how the wireless is configured... +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted October 24, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted October 24, 2009 I guess I should ask can you try it in anyone else's 360? The failure rate on wireless receivers must be ridiculously low, you'll be really unlucky if it is indeed broke.

Unimatrix Xero
ive added you on WLM/MSN if you wanna talk more, would like to troubleshoot with you some more if possible SSID: Skynet Region: Europe Channel: 2 Mode, B & G Enable Wireless access point is enabled along with SSID broadcast encription is WPA-PSK ive also tried disabling encription, rebooting the router and console and trying that but still fails to connect to the wifi network, the 360 is assiged a static IP via the router, also tried removing the assignment for testing
HeyRatFans
If the light on it stays red, it sounds like the dongle is faulty. When I was still working for GAME last year there was a recall issued on a batch of Xbox 360 wireless dongles. I can't remember the specifics of the recall, batch numbers of anything like that, but the symptom of the fault was the red light staying on constantly. I would have thought that this would have been resolved by now, but it's possible that old stock is still sitting on shelves waiting to be sold. If you can't get it to work even with security switched off on your router, I'd send it back and get a replacement.
Unimatrix Xero
well after some hunting it turns out that the ADSL router isnt compatable for some reason with the dongle, there is a massive thread on the Netgear forums about it, and they still havnt fixed it. We are going with a Belkin model sometime soon. gonna check specs and details with shop before i buy it as well
HeyRatFans
I have a Netgear DGN2000 which works fine with XBL, but I wouldn't recommend you buy one as it has problems with the wifi switching to Adhoc mode (biggest waste of ?70 I've ever spent), but if there is one brand of router I've had the most problems with it'd be Belkin:xx
