Firewall is being retarded.

Recommended Posts

Whenever I open pretty much any application, I get "Allow/Deny" messages from firewall, and they're getting annoying, REAL fast.

Here's what I get, this is when I open iTunes (every time):

and for reference, here is my Firewall settings, showing that I have given iTunes plenty of permission:

Any ideas?

You've modified iTunes resources (at least the icon).

Some applications check their own integrity when they are run without using code signing. If the Application Firewall recognizes such an application it will not sign it, but then it will re-present the dialog every time the application is run. This may be avoided by upgrading to a version of the application which is signed by its developer.

Delete iTunes.app and re-download it from Apple.com or revert the changes you made to it.

So I can't have a custom icon for iTunes without it being retarded? I did the same thing to Safari and it doesn't ask that every time...

Its not being retarded.

It's doing what it should be.

Your running into a security feature, where if a program has unsigned changed, it won't use the existing trust settings. This is to prevent malicious code getting access to your authentication details/certificates.

I have this problem with Adium all the time when I hack it to use a HUD appearance.

I just manually sign the app myself once the changes are made, and it works like normal.

But just how did you change the icon - open up the program and replace the icon file, or did you just copy/paste the new icon rather then get info.

The latter should not be causing your problem, the former will.
